arsenal vs tottenham

Arsenal hosts Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates in another edition of the great Northern London derby. That's a fixture from the 28th round of the Premier League, so let's preview it in our free soccer predictions for today.

Arsenal approach this game from 10th place in the Premier League standings. The Gunners have 38 points won so far, which puts them just two points behind the 9th Aston Villa. Against Spurs, Arsenal will look for their 12th win since the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign.

In the previous round, Mikel Arteta's team only won a point during its visit to Burnley at the Turf Moor. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored an early opener for Arsenal, but Burnley's Chris Wood equalized just 6 minutes before the halftime break.

Indeed this is not what Arsenal hoped for when the season started. They won the FA Cup at the end of the previous campaign, so some fans even hoped for a return to the Top 4. But clearly, Arteta's team is not ready for such a challenge.

Against Burnley, Arteta chose to leave Alexandre Lacazette on the bench, putting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the top of the attack. Martin Odegaard started behind the striker while Bakayo Saka and Willian were put on the wings. Partey and Xhaka acted like a duo in the central midfield. Against Tottenham, Arteta has to decide if he wants to put players like Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe, and Dani Ceballos in the starting eleven.

After a challenging period of few consecutive losses, it seems that Tottenham Hotspur is back to their best. Jose Mourinho's team is enjoying a run of three successive wins, which allowed Spurs to climb to 7th place in the league. Right now, Tottenham is five points behind the 4th Chelsea, so finishing in the Top 4 is not entirely impossible.

In the previous round, Tottenham faced Crystal Palace at home and made a great effort to celebrate a stunning 4-1 win. Harry Kane scored two goals and made two assists, while Gareth Bale scored two more as well. The Welsh superstar had some serious problems since returning to the club from Real Madrid, but now Bale is playing better and better. He could be absolutely essential in Spurs' fight for a Top 4 finish. Or at least he could help the team to win a place in Europa League for next season.

We believe that Jose Mourinho won't be doing many changes in the North London derby against Arsenal. Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko could be in contention for a starting place, while the same could be said about Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn, too. At the same time, Mourinho is still not trusting English international Dele Alli to be a vital member of the first team.

That's our free soccer predictions for today for the English Premier League derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. It's always a true spectacle when these two teams face each other in the capital. Spurs' performances this season are a little bit better, especially lately, but everything is possible when these two teams meet.
