Uganda vs Tanzania Prediction & Betting Tips (27 December)

Absent from the last two editions of the CAN in 2021 and 2023 after having played in the 1/8 finals in 2019, Uganda had a difficult start in this competition, losing quite logically to Tunisia 3-1 despite the reduction in the score obtained at the very end of the match. Following this setback, Paul Put's men find themselves in last position in Group C before this 2nd day which already promises to be decisive. To qualify, this selection took 2nd place in its group during the qualifiers, just behind South Africa. South but far ahead of Congo and South Sudan. Back at an interesting level on the African scene, Tanzania had already taken part in 2 of its last 3 editions of the CAN, in 2019 and in 2023 without ever managing to pass the group stage or even to win a single match in this competition. On Tuesday, this selection ended up losing when it entered the fray against Nigeria 2-1 during a fairly open encounter during which it was able to come back before conceding the 2nd goal in the process. To qualify for this CAN, the Taifa Stars took 2nd place in their group, behind the Democratic Republic of Congo but ahead of Ethiopia and especially Guinea. Conversely, Tanzania will not be able to play in the World Cup after being beaten by Morocco and Niger in group E. Last month, Tanzania missed its last dress rehearsals before this CAN by losing against Iran 2-0 and Kuwait 4-3 during 2 friendly matches. 

It is difficult to highlight a known face in this Uganda team.  It is also necessary to note the absences of defenders Kizito (KCCA, 14 sel) and Achai (KCCA, 2 sel), Oyirwoth midfielders (New England Revolution, 4 sel) and Ssebaggala (Vipers, 1 selection) and striker Mpande (PVF-CAND, 2 goals in 15 sel) who do not appear on the list after being summoned in November. The defender of Italian origin Capradossi (Cluj, 11 sel) and full-back Kayondo (Slovan Liberec, 34 sel) are among the rare players in this squad to play in Europe. Midfielder Okello (Vipers, 6 goals in 33 seasons) and winger Mato (Vardar Skopje, 6 goals in 37 games) are also very important. Against Tunisia, it was the substitute Omedi who was able to reduce the score. Tanzania is also one of the relatively little-known selections of this CAN.

Moreover, the attackers Mwalimu (19 years old, 1 goal in 5 seasons) and Peter (22 years old, 2 sel) were not summoned in relation to the last gathering. Same case concerning the Yahya milieu (Young Africans, 39 sel). A large part of the players called up for the competition play in the weak local championship but we can still point out the presence of the important midfielder Miroshi (Göztepe, 32 sel) and striker Samatta (Le Havre, 22 goals in 86 sel) who is the captain of this team. Midfielder Salum (Azam, 4 goals in 58 seasons) and winger Msuva (Al-Talaba, 24 goals in 100 seasons) are also part of this selection.
