The 2023/24 Premier League could go down as one of the most exciting in modern history with three strong title contenders and bountiful more candidates for the top-four finish.

The previous transfer window was marked by an exodus of some of the game’s main stars to Saudi Arabia but it has at the same time kind of evened the playing field in Europe’s strongest league.

Stay tuned as we analyse the main candidates for the highest positions in the English Premier League standings with the help of John Pentin, football expert at BettingTips4You, keeping the focus on the top three title contenders.

Will Manchester City Finally Be Properly Challenged?

The previous season will go down as the most successful one in Manchester City’s history as Pep Guardiola’s machinery won the legendary treble, adding the League Cup and the UEFA Champions League titles to the Premier League silverware. Nevertheless, things did not go as smoothly as Guardiola may have expected despite a record-breaking goal-scoring campaign for his newly-signed talisman Erling Haaland.

Man City were behind Arsenal in February but managed to find the right form when it mattered most to eventually cruise to another domestic trophy as the Gunners completely fell apart in crunch time. The Citizens are by far the main favorites to defend their crown this time around as well but they’ll face a much more serious challenge along the way as a familiar team have returned to contention for the throne.

Liverpool Mean Business this Year

Liverpool had a tricky schedule at the very start of the new season but they managed to run through it relatively unharmed thanks to some strong displays against big rivals. The Reds have done an amazing job during the transfer window by addressing the key issues in their midfield. They look like a much more serious team with the arrivals of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis MacAllister, while Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo complete the list of fantastic acquisitions to broaden the team’s rotation for the hectic winter schedule.

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez seem to have found the right chemistry while the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo are all ready to shine on their day as well. This Liverpool team can go far and we see them as a serious threat to Manchester City’s crown this time around.

Can Arsenal Make a Step Up with Declan Rice?

Arsenal enjoyed one of their best campaigns in the last decade last season but it was only good enough for the runners-up finish due to a massive slide in form in the crunch time. Mikel Arteta has all the main weapons to attack the silverware once again as his team’s chances are additionally boosted with the arrivals of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya.

The Gunners’ form at the beginning of the new season does not look overly impressive but they are still almost lock on points with Manchester City after the first third of the campaign. Knowing how motivated they are to finally make it count and knowing about the quality Arteta has in his ranks, we just can’t underestimate Arsenal’s chances by any means.

Spurs, Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle, Brighton, and Chelsea All In Contention for European Places

On top of the title race, we are surely going to be in for a tremendous battle for the remaining European positions as the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle, Brighton, and Chelsea all have the ingredients to challenge a top-six finish at the end of the campaign. We can't wait to see how things will unfold but one thing is certain – we are in for a real drama in the upcoming months.
