The NFL

A ridiculous number of upsets and surprise packages across the season, no wonder viewing figures were rising across the board. The 2026 Super Bowl odds changed hands numerous times across the regular season, with the likes of the Ravens, Bills, Chiefs and Eagles making way for upstarts like the Patriots, Rams, Broncos and Seahawks. From a betting perspective, it was great, especially if you liked picking underdogs to beat the spread. And there was excellent value in live betting, as the season was characterized by several notable late-game comebacks.

Finally. If we could pick out one main criticism of Formula One in recent years, it would be that the Drivers’ Championship usually looked wrapped up by summer. Whether it was Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen, someone would be literally in the driving seat, making the championship a washout. Last season, we got a three-way tussle at the top, with Lando Norris eventually winning by two points. Even drivers like George Russell and Charles Leclerc looked competitive early on in the season.

The Premier League

Hmmm. The Premier League often markets its competitiveness, but then you have the usual suspects at the top of the table at the end of the season. Yet, the ongoing 2025/26 season has been interesting to say the least. Arsenal can be considered a semi-surprise package at the top, but it is the tightness in the middle of the table that makes it compelling. At the time of writing, five points separate the Champions League positions from Brighton in 12th. It’s a ding-dong that sees teams constantly dropping points when fans think they are getting on a run, so that can be useful to snap up some value in your bets.

Ligue 1

Ligue 1 has been funny this year. Look, we all know that PSG will probably finish as title winners, as Luis Enrique’s side has too much talent for the rest of the league, but plucky Lens just won’t go away and look set for a Champions League spot at the bare minimum. Others, like Marseille and Lille, are doing what they usually do, but teams like Monaco are incredibly difficult to work out, looking like world-beaters one minute and relegation fodder the next.

Scottish Premiership

It has been brilliant. It’s not just that Hearts have been inserted as bona fide challengers in a title race that has been a two-horse race since the days of the Cold War, but there have been other teams, like Motherwell and Hibs in the mix too. And you also have the brilliant League Cup Final upset of St Mirren taking down the mighty Celtic. An excellent advert for Scottish football, and, once again, plenty of opportunities for getting value by betting against the Old Firm teams.
