The past three years have seen a massive change in the US sports betting industry. An increasing number of American states have legalized sports betting such as soccer and soccereSports. This is bringing in millions of dollars in revenue for states around the US and finally allowing players to gamble both legally and safely.

It was in 2018 that a US Supreme Court judge made a ruling that changed the American sports betting industry forever. It had been the case that the federal government made the decision on whether or not to legalize sports betting. The US Supreme Court judge ruled that it should be the individual state that makes the decision.

That opened the floodgates, and many states were quick to legalize sports betting. Are these states in love with gambling? Not really, they just see sports betting as an opportunity to receive millions of dollars in tax revenue.

New Jersey were one of the states that campaigned hard to see the rules changed. The state has for a long time been famous for its casinos in Atlantic City. Now they are also known for the sports betting opportunities that they now have. It was Delaware however, that were the first to legalize sports betting with Governor Phil Murphy placing two bets. Nine days later, New Jersey introduced legal sports betting into the state.

The growth in the US sports betting industry hasn’t just seen states receiving much needed tax revenue. It has seen gambling companies such as FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars Entertainment enjoy massive growth. They have opened sportsbooks online and there are also casinos that now add sports betting to the services they already offer. Mobile betting has seen a huge growth and is now responsible for the majority of wagers being place on legalized sports betting apps across the states.

The necessary law to legalize sports betting in Arizona was signed in April of this year. There will be 20 online licenses and the same number of retail licenses. Sports betting began in the state on September 9, so it’s going to be a busy and profitable time in the state.

November looks like being a massive month for the sports betting industry in Louisiana. The laws that legalize sports betting have been passed and the countdown is on. To be able to offer odds to customers, licences have to be granted. Casinos in the state are now close to being given those licences.

Ronnie Johns is the Head of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. He acknowledges that the public want to see sports betting introduced “very badly” but “we’ve got to dot our I’s and cross our T’s.” There have been 13 licence applications from the 20 licensed land-based casinos, racinos and riverboats in the state. It’s anticipated that the other seven will make their applications before January of next year.

Using your mobile devices to bet on sport is becoming increasingly popular. In Louisiana though, that’s not likely to happen until the start of 2022. Their plan is to introduce sports betting into state-regulated casinos. There’s a lengthy compliance process re mobile betting but it will arrive, just not yet.

The introduction of mobile betting is much anticipated. It’s not taken sports betting fans long to realize that it is so important. Sports betting sites have so much on offer that you need to be able to download an app or access a mobile version of the site.

Customers don’t want to miss out on being able to bet on the latest NFL or NBA games just because they have to go out. It’s believed that 80% of sports bets made are done so via mobile devices. It’s important to find out which are the best apps to use. Visiting a site such as AZ sports betting apps can be very helpful.

The amount of tax revenue received can be extremely high, especially now that the NFL and NBA seasons have started, and the World Series is on the horizon. September 2021 saw casinos in Mississippi take $54.8 million in sports bets. $29.9 million of that was wagered on the NFL.

The future for sports betting in the US is indeed a rosy one. More states such as New York will eventually legalize gambling and that means even more players will be using their mobile devices to legally place bets on sport.
