This summer Man City lost some important players as Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez left the club. At the same time the Cityzens reinforced the squad as they signed two Croatian internationals - Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol. Gvardiol even became the most expensive defender in football’s history.

Man City lost the Community Shield game against Arsenal, but it happens for a third consecutive time - they still won the league in the previous two. Cole Palmer scored against the Gunners, but Arsenal managed to win by penalties.
