You’ve heard of Bingo, but have you ever heard of Slingo? This unique fusion game takes elements of both Slots and Bingo to create an entirely fresh gameplay experience.

By combining the random element of spinning slot reels with the grid-based Bingo card, Slingo remixes the familiar into something new. Players who enjoy either Slots or Bingo could find that there’s a lot to enjoy in this fusion game. Slingo Bingo online is already a popular choice for exactly that reason.

So, join us as we run through our complete guide to the game of Slingo and explore the depths of this fresh twist on classic game elements.

The origins of Slingo

Surprisingly, the game of Slingo can trace its origins back to the early 90s. It’s not the online invention that you might think, having been designed with the idea of a TV gameshow instead!

New Jersey real estate developer Sal Falciglia was inspired to create the fusion game, wanting to produce a game that was easy to pick up but interesting to watch. This led him to bring together elements of Slots and Bingo, eventually resulting in the form of Slingo we know today.

The rules of Slingo

If you’ve played Bingo then you’ll likely know a lot of the core Slingo rules. Players are presented with a 5x5 grid of numbers, with the aim being to complete as many lines of the grid as possible before the end of the game.

Unlike Bingo, numbers are generated by spinning a set of reels that sit on the screen underneath the grid. Each of these five reels corresponds to one of the columns of the grid, giving players numbers to potentially mark off each time they’re spun.

Players will have set numbers to mark off with the aim to complete their card, but whether they get a full house or not depends entirely on the random chance of the reels.

In another slot-inspired element, the reels may also land on special wild symbols that switch up gameplay. A Joker will allow players to mark off any number in the aligned column, while Devils will block a column if they come up on a spin. But you’ll never know what will come up…

Some games also feature special symbols that give players an additional spin or that trigger extra game mechanics if they appear.

Slingo varieties

Since its creation, Slingo has proven a very popular choice for online casino players. Its remix of familiar game mechanics into something new has proven to be a solid formula for player enjoyment.

That’s encouraged developers to create plenty of varieties of the classic Slingo game, featuring unique themes or fresh twists on the original. When looking for an online Slingo game there are many options to choose from to suit your tastes.

With a creative blend of the best elements of two classic casino games, Slingo has proven that it’s a unique experience that has stood the test of time. Whether you prefer Slots or Bingo, this fusion game has something fresh to offer.
