The leading active Cameroonian footballers

Among the big names included Andre Onana, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bryan Mbeumo are the most familiar names with all three playing for top clubs in europe.

Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana

Cameroon is one of Africa's biggest soccer nations and has five won African Cup of Nation titles. The West Africans has produced legendary forwards Samuel Eto'o and Roger Milla, as well as phenomenal shot-stoppers like Thomas N'Kono.

Today, Cameroon is not as strong as they were in past decades, but the nation still boasts representation at some of Europe's biggest clubs. Cameroon have less quality in their current national pool compared to previous generations, but they do have several players that don't look out of place amongst Europe's elite.

Andre Onana

Cameroon's number one goalkeeper Andre Onana has established himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in the whole of Europe. He is certainly the greatest goalkeeper to emerge from the entire African continent in over a decade.

Onana earned a huge transfer to Manchester United in the summer of 2023. The former Inter Milan goalkeeper is on the books of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

United was in need of a modern goalkeeping option this year and Onana could provide them with reliability and an admirable ball-playing ability between the sticks. In Premier Bet Cameroon, Onana is one of the favorites to secure the league's Golden Glove Award this season. He is offered at +800 to be the leading clean sheet holder in his debut season.

Onana's quality is obvious and he is expected to have a huge impact at Old Trafford in his maiden year at the club. The Cameroonian has a rare blend of athletic shotstopping and technical ability with the ball at his feet, which few keepers throughout history have possessed.

Playing for a club that is a commercial giant in the soccer world will be invaluable for his growing legacy. Onana is already a star but his ceiling has been raised massively following the switch to the Premier League club.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has earned a huge boost to his reputation in recent times. Just a few years in the past, he had a disappointing spell in the Premier League with Fulham.

However, in the past season, the Napoli star has shown that he is one of the most complete midfielders in Europe. The Cameroonian star was the standout midfielder for the Naples team, as they secured their first Serie A title in more than three decades.

Anguissa has all the attributes needed from a box-to-box midfielder. He operates with a high-energy style; he possesses an exceptional dribbling ability for a midfielder with such a tall frame.

His tenacity is also a strong trait as he constantly demands possession back for his side. The Napoli man could perhaps be compared to former Cameroon international Alex Song, except Anguissa leans more to offense - he weighed in four goals and eight assists for his club last season.

Onana and Anguissa comfortably stand above all the other active Cameroonian soccer players. Both proved themselves massively last season when Onana reached a UEFA Champions League final and Anguissa won the Scudetto in Italy.

The pair have ability in abundance, as well as plenty of time left in their careers to cement their status as Cameroonian soccer legends.
