NBA 2025 latest News and Predictions
Stay ahead of the game with our latest NBA blog! Get the inside scoop on the latest news, scores, and expert predictions.

Roughly a month into the newest edition of the NBA season and already there are plenty of storylines that fans need to know about. While it may have seemed like we got everything figured out before the start, many of the early predictions fell through as some rather unexpected developments took place. Injuries are already piling up, expected contenders are struggling, and there is an overall feeling of uncertainty and unfamiliarity because of these unexpected factors. One thing is certain: it is still rather exciting to see the best of the best go at it night in and night out.
Because of all this, it is not easy for someone deeply invested in the best that basketball has to offer. No longer can you watch a game and know full well who is taking it before it actually finishes. Anything can happen and a bunch of stuff is happening. So how can an average fan of the NBA, or more importantly, an online sports betting enthusiast, prepare for a full slate of games? Is it possible to do enough research and should you trust the odds the bookies make? To these and other questions, we give answers in the following guide. Read on if you love basketball for the newest news, speculations, and predictions.
Struggling Playoff Teams
Two of the bigger stories deal with teams that were expected to make early pushes for the top of the standings and eventually make a deep playoff run. These are mainly the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Considering the names in their ranks and their past success, one of them more so than the other, they should be good for most of the season, right? Well, it seems like that will not be the case this season. It is already looking very bad for them and we have barely scratched the surface.Let us start with Philly. The City of Brotherly Love has been Trusting the Process for years now, but alas, it was to no avail. After numerous disappointments and experiments with stars past their prime, Joel Embiid somehow won an MVP and everyone’s spirits were high. Then, of course, his injuries continued as he was still unable to finish a season and take the team past the second round. Now, he has yet to play a single game this season. He was involved in two controversies already.
First, he said that if it were up to him, he would never play in back-to-back games until the end of his career. For this, the league launched an investigation into Philadelphia’s conducting of player absences. Then, the shoved a reporter in the locker room and got suspended for three games. And all of this after missing the first few games due to injury. It cannot get any worse, can it? Well, Tyrese Maxey is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and Paul George is a bit rusty after missing the first several games of the season. All in all, the 76ers are one of the worst teams right now with a 1-7 record and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Betting against them would not be a bad idea going forward.
Right above them with an abysmal 2-7 record are the Milwaukee Bucks, who, compared to Philly, are not struggling with any drama or major injuries to their stars. Sure, Khris Middleton is absent still and is yet to appear this season, but they are used to it by now. Their struggles come from a few other places. First off, it does seem like Doc Rivers is the greatest fraud in NBA coaching in the last 20 years. Since he took over, everything has gone downhill. Losing Jrue Holiday and getting Damian Lillard proved like a mistake as the team is struggling mightily on the defensive end and the duo of Giannis Antetokiunpo and Lillard cannot carry the entire offense on their own. If one of them misses a game, it is a definite loss, and they do tend to miss a game from time to time.
The lack of help from the bench as well as the remainder of the starting five is simply not enough to compete in the East right now. Other teams are younger, faster, and more talented, while the Bucks are the oldest team in the league with an average age of 30.4 years. All you need to know about their roster struggles is the fact that they are playing a 36-year-old Brook Lopez for 30 minutes a game. There is no end in sight to their struggles and Giannis constantly appears in trade rumors. It would be one of the biggest shakeups in the history of the league if or when the Bucks make a move. This cannot go on for much longer as frustration is already at a peak.
Cavaliers are for Real
On the opposite end of the spectrum are the incredible Cleveland Cavaliers who have run out of the gate to start the season and kept on sprinting. Throw a hurdle at them and they will clear it by a mile. Nothing seems to be phasing them as they opened the new campaign with a 10-0 and it seems like there is no end in sight to their amazing stretch. This is the best start in franchise history, and we are talking about a team that is synonymous with LeBron James. At the moment, Stake gives them the odds of 19.00 to take the title, with 7 other teams in front. Capitalizing now would be an amazing wagering foresight and they could very well do it.
Donovan Mitchel and Darius Garland are leading the backcourt while the twin towers of Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen are anchoring the post. Such a combination of size and speed, offense and defense, is not present in many other teams. Add a constant threat from beyond the arc from the likes of Max Strus, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, and Isaac Okoro, and you have a well-rounded team poised for greatness. Betting on the Cavs is one of the surest things in basketball right now so be sure to ride the wave until it lasts. It is a good time once again to be an NBA fan in Cleveland.
Phoenix, Thunder, Celtics on a Roll
This assortment of contenders is doing their thing to open the season as all three teams are great right now. The Phoenix Suns are atop the Western Conference with an 8-1 record, same as the second-best Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic are leading the way as the team is winning games, both close and lopsided, and finally playing well together. The chemistry of OKC is unmatched and it is just so good to watch the guys interact with each other and play so well together. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are leading the way and their supporting cast is unlike anything else in the league. They could be ready for that final push come playoff time.In the East, right under the mighty Cavs is the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. With the odds to take another title and cement the dynasty being 3.60, they are still the bookies’ favorites. However, many teams are off to an amazing start and could ruin their best chance at a repeat in almost 4 decades. Jason Tatum is playing like an MVP, again, and several guys are coming into their own, especially Payton Pritchard. With Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis down with injuries, the Cs have not yet taken out their best starting five onto the court this season. It is a scary thought to have but there is no saying how good they will be when the gears start turning midway through the season.
Numerous Early MVP Candidates
After the first two weeks, the MVP battle looked nothing like we expected it to. Some names appeared there that no sane person would think of. For example, two Clippers players are incredible right now, but none of them are named James Harden or Kawhi Leonard. It is Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac who have been carrying the load and are the main contributors to the positive 5-4 record of a team who were supposed to be where the Bucks and Philly are right now. Zubac is averaging 16.7 points and 12.8 rebounds while Powell is playing out of his mind with 25.7 points per game. The Sacramento Kings hoped for a better start than their current 5-4 record, but there is a lot to be optimistic about right now. They have three players averaging more than 20 points per game. De’Aron Fox is leading the way with 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. DeMar DeRozan is currently at 24.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 20.6 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game and has already had several triple-doubles.
that's a wrap from the desert, catch y'all tm for another one 🫡

Defensive Player of the Game presented by @phoonglawcorp pic.twitter.com/JfANZzwY8h
Speaking of the Lithuanian superstar, he has had one of the best games in history, a perfect game as many called it. In their November 6 win over the Toronto Raptors, he did something nobody else has. Pay attention. He had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. He added 1 steal to it. But the great thing about it is that he shot 100% from the floor, 6/6, 100% from the free throw, 5/5, and did not have a single foul or turnover! Such a game is unheard of and it is a testament to how the new, non-American players (Jokic, Sabonis, Giannis, Luka, Shai) are changing the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in the 7th spot with a 5-4 record after opening the season in big fashion. With big stories surrounding them, none bigger than Bronny James and the new coaching staff led by JJ Reddick, they are handling the business well enough. LeBron James says he plans to play all 82 games this season, something he has only done once in his 22-year-long career. That is promising as the team needs all he can give them, and he is delivering amazingly well for a soon-to-be 40-year-old.
However, it is Anthony Davis who is leading the way and making an early push for the MVP. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game on 57% shooting. These are MVP numbers and should he be able to play enough games, it could be his year. He is also delivering on the defensive end so it could be a battle between him and Victor Wembanyama for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Houston Rockets
Last week was very bad for Golden State 8th, 10 wins - 9 losses, beaten 3 times in 3 games. First in Florida against Orlando 121-113 and the Miami Heat 110-96, then against the Portland Blazers diminished by injuries to Lillard, Holiday and Henderson. Big favorite with the return of Curry, Green and Butler, the San Francisco Bay team lost this game 123-127. The reaction was as necessary as it was obligatory against the Utah Jazz 48 hours ago. Serious and diligent, Stephen Curry and his friends found victory 133-117. Opposite, the Houston Rockets 4th, 11 victories - 4 defeats are the authors of a start to the season which meets the expectations of the leaders. Kevin Durant arrived to bring experience in the Play-offs in particular, but the regular season will not be neglected. A place in the top 4 is desirable in order to benefit from home advantage from the first round. The Rockets, winners of 6 of their last 7 games, fell to Nikola Jokic's Denver Nuggets 109-112 last weekend before regaining the taste of victory against the Phoenix Suns 48 hours ago despite the absence of KD 92-114.

San Antonio Spurs
Obvious decline in performance for the Portland Trail Blazers 9th, 8 wins - 10 losses after a great start to the season. Some strong men who contributed to Portland's magnificent start are in the infirmary, like J.Holiday. The Oregon franchise, already impacted by Damian Lillard's withdrawal for the season, has lost 5 of its last 7 games in the NBA. Fortunately the recent form, for its part, is nicer. 2 successes in the last 3 duels played, victory at Golden State 123-127 and at Milwaukee 103-115 with only a logical defeat against OKC in the meantime. It is therefore a San Antonio 5th, 11 victories - 5 defeats deprived of V.Wembanyma who has faced his opponents for 4 matches. If in front of the Kings 123-110, then the Memphis Grizzlies 111-101 and finally the Atlanta Hawks 135-126 this had posed no problem for San Antonio, the match against the Phoenix Suns was harder to negotiate, like this 111-102 defeat when leaving Arizona.

Phoenix Suns
A horror start to the season from the Sacramento Kings 13th, 5 wins - 13 losses whose leaders would have taken the radical decision to trade the entire group in the coming weeks except the rookie K.Murray described as untouchable. A decision which would have come after the heavy defeat suffered on the road at the Grizzlies 137-96. Except that since then... Things have changed. Indeed, the Sacramento Kings have won their last 2 games in the NBA, and not against just anyone. The 1st at the Denver Nuggets 123-128 and the second at home in front of the Minnesota Timberwolves after overtime and with character 117-112. The Phoenix Suns 6th, 11 wins - 6 losses, for their part, achieved the impossible in 1 month of competition. Logically announced in transition, the Arizona franchise is in the top 6 with dreams in its head now. An even more commendable performance when we know that J.Green only played one full match. On the other hand, after 3 consecutive victories including a success at home against the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 111-102, the Suns did not manage to go back-to-back against the Houston Rockets 92-114 despite the absence of KD.

Memphis Grizzlies
First alarming results for the New Orleans Pelicans 15th, 3 wins - 15 losses but generally unsurprising start to the season after the losses in recent months of Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum, combined with the serious injury of Dejounte Murray, starting playmaker, no matches this year. We could have hoped for a place around the Play-ins like Memphis but not better. New Orleans, that said, in a burst of generosity at home, made the fans love it by beating the Chicago Bulls 143-130 after a series of 9 consecutive defeats. Honestly, a record of 6 wins - 12 losses, that makes up for it. However, when it comes to the Memphis Grizzlies, the problems run deeper than that. Last year the departure of T.Jenkins ex-coach caused a lot of misunderstanding, then that of D.Bane position 2 also this summer, when Ja Morant, injured for another 10 days, would like to leave. In these conditions, it is difficult to raise your head. Memphis nevertheless won 2 of its last 3 games against the Kings 137-96 and the Mavericks 96-102, before falling at home to the Nuggets 115-125.

Minnesota Timberwolves
The OKC Thunder 1st, best record in the league sets its pace at the start of the season. Mark Daigneault's team simply found its rhythm. Collectively in place, top 5 best NBA attack and best defense by far, OKC sanctions each franchise if it exposes its weak point. 17 victories in a row for the teammates of the reigning regular season MVP and Play-offs Shai Gilegeous Alexander the Canadian. The champion has won its last 9 games with a minimum gap of 14 points... It's crazy, Portland can attest to this last Monday, beaten heavily by the champion 122-95. Very average start to the season from the Minnesota Timberwolves 7th, 10 wins - 7 losses, especially against teams like Houston or the Lakers who got off to a better start. It's even a rotten start to the season to the extent that the Wolves were expected, like Denver, as one of OKC's main outsiders in the regular season. But for now, things are not moving forward, like this last defeat which was very heavy to digest mentally against the Sacramento Kings in overtime 117-112 while Minnesota had been in front almost the entire match.

Milwaukee Bucks
What a MasterClass carried out by the Miami Heat for 1 month. Without Tyler Herro, its best player until the last match, the Florida team is in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 12 wins - 6 losses. For a franchise traumatized by the departure of Jimmy Butler last year, the summer was a great success with the arrival of N.Powell. T.Herro made his return against the Dallas Mavericks at the start of the week. A rather successful comeback with no less than 24 points 12-18 shooting in 29 minutes of play. And a 5th victory in a row for the Heat. Let's not beat around the bush with the Milwaukee Bucks more in danger than ever this year with this 11th place 8 wins - 10 losses, and super dependent on Giannis. Not sure of continuing with the Bucks at the start of the season, the Greek must still be procrastinating quite a bit at the moment, as his team is so inconsistent in his absence. Indeed, the Milwaukee Bucks have lost their last 5 games in the NBA. It's been a total disaster since the Greek's injury, as evidenced by this heavy defeat at home against the Blazers at the start of the week 103-115.

Indiana Pacers
We are now on track to see the Toronto Raptors play the leading roles. Repeat the feat of 2019? Why not given the quality of this squad. This one shines by its ability to undermine its opponents collectively like Barnes, Ingram and Barrett, unlike 2019 where an archi-dependence on the performances of Kawhi Leonard was required. Second in the Eastern Conference 13 wins - 5 losses, Toronto has won 13 of its last 14 games in the NBA, the last of which against title contender the Cleveland Cavaliers at the start of the week 110-99. Unlike many NBA franchises whose situation is not at best like New Orleans and Dallas in the West, or the BK Nets and Charlotte in the East and the Charlotte Hornets, we cannot talk about crisis among the Pacers, heroic last year by winning the Eastern Conference title. Coach Carlisle's credit is unlimited in the Crossroads of America and the absence of T. Haliburton alleviates the situation. Indiana 14th, 2 wins – 15 losses has only won 2 games this year. After a success against Charlotte, Indiana was recently beaten by Cleveland 120-109 and Pistons 117-122 48 hours ago.

New York Knicks
Let's start with the crunchiest. The situation surrounding LaMelo Ball continues to fuel all the discussions in North Carolina. If the latter finally denied wanting to leave the franchise, its leaders would be open to a trade in the coming weeks. A good idea for LB and Charlotte, with the aim of getting back on track because this franchise is doing badly, very badly, beaten for the 6th time in a row on the road to the Atlanta Hawks last 113-110. Previously, last Thursday Charlotte 12th, 4 wins - 13 losses had revived Indiana 127-118 then the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday 116-131. The New York Knicks 5th, 10 wins - 6 losses achieving for the moment a start to the season below overall expectations. Indeed, such a team cannot be satisfied with a 5th place. On paper we are certainly talking about the most qualitative group. No room for error knowing that Tom Thibodeau skipped last year after losing in the Eastern Conference final against Indiana. After a defeat at the Magic, in the New York derby away at the Barclays Center, J.Brunson's New York did no favors to its rival 100-113.

So what about some immediate games and the newest NBA sports betting odds? We have you covered. This weekend is full of great games, particularly on Sunday. The Suns are playing the Kings in a great Western Conference duel. Considering their current form and how well the team is playing together, the Suns’ odds of 1.46 make sense over the Kings’ 2.80. The over/under is 227.5 and should be a great over (1.77) to play as both teams have some heavy hitters on their rosters. Among Durant, Booker, and Beal on one side and Fox, DeRozan, and Sabonis on the other, it should be an easy win.
The struggling Bucks are playing the Celtics in what was supposed to be an Eastern Conference clash of contenders. However, it is not guaranteed due to the current form of the Milwaukee team. Still, Giannis and Lillard have a lot to prove and could actually come on top. Tatum is the lone star as his team is incomplete, hence the 1.80 odds for the Celtics and the 2.06 odds for the Bucks. This may be the game that turns it around for the Wisconsin team.
Who doesn’t like when the New York Knicks are good? It is simply great for the league and the sport! They are the favorites in their upcoming clash with the Indiana Pacers as the trades proved successful. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges on one side, and Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner are more than enough to get you the 1.77 over on the 226.5 threshold. As for the winner, the Knicks should take it. The bookies predict it and give them 1.81 over the Pacers’ 2.05.
