NBA 2025 latest News and Predictions
Stay ahead of the game with our latest NBA blog! Get the inside scoop on the latest news, scores, and expert predictions.

Roughly a month into the newest edition of the NBA season and already there are plenty of storylines that fans need to know about. While it may have seemed like we got everything figured out before the start, many of the early predictions fell through as some rather unexpected developments took place. Injuries are already piling up, expected contenders are struggling, and there is an overall feeling of uncertainty and unfamiliarity because of these unexpected factors. One thing is certain: it is still rather exciting to see the best of the best go at it night in and night out.
Because of all this, it is not easy for someone deeply invested in the best that basketball has to offer. No longer can you watch a game and know full well who is taking it before it actually finishes. Anything can happen and a bunch of stuff is happening. So how can an average fan of the NBA, or more importantly, an online sports betting enthusiast, prepare for a full slate of games? Is it possible to do enough research and should you trust the odds the bookies make? To these and other questions, we give answers in the following guide. Read on if you love basketball for the newest news, speculations, and predictions.
Struggling Playoff Teams
Two of the bigger stories deal with teams that were expected to make early pushes for the top of the standings and eventually make a deep playoff run. These are mainly the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Considering the names in their ranks and their past success, one of them more so than the other, they should be good for most of the season, right? Well, it seems like that will not be the case this season. It is already looking very bad for them and we have barely scratched the surface.Let us start with Philly. The City of Brotherly Love has been Trusting the Process for years now, but alas, it was to no avail. After numerous disappointments and experiments with stars past their prime, Joel Embiid somehow won an MVP and everyone’s spirits were high. Then, of course, his injuries continued as he was still unable to finish a season and take the team past the second round. Now, he has yet to play a single game this season. He was involved in two controversies already.
First, he said that if it were up to him, he would never play in back-to-back games until the end of his career. For this, the league launched an investigation into Philadelphia’s conducting of player absences. Then, the shoved a reporter in the locker room and got suspended for three games. And all of this after missing the first few games due to injury. It cannot get any worse, can it? Well, Tyrese Maxey is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and Paul George is a bit rusty after missing the first several games of the season. All in all, the 76ers are one of the worst teams right now with a 1-7 record and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Betting against them would not be a bad idea going forward.
Right above them with an abysmal 2-7 record are the Milwaukee Bucks, who, compared to Philly, are not struggling with any drama or major injuries to their stars. Sure, Khris Middleton is absent still and is yet to appear this season, but they are used to it by now. Their struggles come from a few other places. First off, it does seem like Doc Rivers is the greatest fraud in NBA coaching in the last 20 years. Since he took over, everything has gone downhill. Losing Jrue Holiday and getting Damian Lillard proved like a mistake as the team is struggling mightily on the defensive end and the duo of Giannis Antetokiunpo and Lillard cannot carry the entire offense on their own. If one of them misses a game, it is a definite loss, and they do tend to miss a game from time to time.
The lack of help from the bench as well as the remainder of the starting five is simply not enough to compete in the East right now. Other teams are younger, faster, and more talented, while the Bucks are the oldest team in the league with an average age of 30.4 years. All you need to know about their roster struggles is the fact that they are playing a 36-year-old Brook Lopez for 30 minutes a game. There is no end in sight to their struggles and Giannis constantly appears in trade rumors. It would be one of the biggest shakeups in the history of the league if or when the Bucks make a move. This cannot go on for much longer as frustration is already at a peak.
Cavaliers are for Real
On the opposite end of the spectrum are the incredible Cleveland Cavaliers who have run out of the gate to start the season and kept on sprinting. Throw a hurdle at them and they will clear it by a mile. Nothing seems to be phasing them as they opened the new campaign with a 10-0 and it seems like there is no end in sight to their amazing stretch. This is the best start in franchise history, and we are talking about a team that is synonymous with LeBron James. At the moment, Stake gives them the odds of 19.00 to take the title, with 7 other teams in front. Capitalizing now would be an amazing wagering foresight and they could very well do it.
Donovan Mitchel and Darius Garland are leading the backcourt while the twin towers of Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen are anchoring the post. Such a combination of size and speed, offense and defense, is not present in many other teams. Add a constant threat from beyond the arc from the likes of Max Strus, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, and Isaac Okoro, and you have a well-rounded team poised for greatness. Betting on the Cavs is one of the surest things in basketball right now so be sure to ride the wave until it lasts. It is a good time once again to be an NBA fan in Cleveland.
Phoenix, Thunder, Celtics on a Roll
This assortment of contenders is doing their thing to open the season as all three teams are great right now. The Phoenix Suns are atop the Western Conference with an 8-1 record, same as the second-best Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic are leading the way as the team is winning games, both close and lopsided, and finally playing well together. The chemistry of OKC is unmatched and it is just so good to watch the guys interact with each other and play so well together. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are leading the way and their supporting cast is unlike anything else in the league. They could be ready for that final push come playoff time.In the East, right under the mighty Cavs is the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. With the odds to take another title and cement the dynasty being 3.60, they are still the bookies’ favorites. However, many teams are off to an amazing start and could ruin their best chance at a repeat in almost 4 decades. Jason Tatum is playing like an MVP, again, and several guys are coming into their own, especially Payton Pritchard. With Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis down with injuries, the Cs have not yet taken out their best starting five onto the court this season. It is a scary thought to have but there is no saying how good they will be when the gears start turning midway through the season.
Numerous Early MVP Candidates
After the first two weeks, the MVP battle looked nothing like we expected it to. Some names appeared there that no sane person would think of. For example, two Clippers players are incredible right now, but none of them are named James Harden or Kawhi Leonard. It is Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac who have been carrying the load and are the main contributors to the positive 5-4 record of a team who were supposed to be where the Bucks and Philly are right now. Zubac is averaging 16.7 points and 12.8 rebounds while Powell is playing out of his mind with 25.7 points per game. The Sacramento Kings hoped for a better start than their current 5-4 record, but there is a lot to be optimistic about right now. They have three players averaging more than 20 points per game. De’Aron Fox is leading the way with 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. DeMar DeRozan is currently at 24.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 20.6 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game and has already had several triple-doubles.
that's a wrap from the desert, catch y'all tm for another one 🫡

Defensive Player of the Game presented by @phoonglawcorp pic.twitter.com/JfANZzwY8h
Speaking of the Lithuanian superstar, he has had one of the best games in history, a perfect game as many called it. In their November 6 win over the Toronto Raptors, he did something nobody else has. Pay attention. He had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. He added 1 steal to it. But the great thing about it is that he shot 100% from the floor, 6/6, 100% from the free throw, 5/5, and did not have a single foul or turnover! Such a game is unheard of and it is a testament to how the new, non-American players (Jokic, Sabonis, Giannis, Luka, Shai) are changing the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in the 7th spot with a 5-4 record after opening the season in big fashion. With big stories surrounding them, none bigger than Bronny James and the new coaching staff led by JJ Reddick, they are handling the business well enough. LeBron James says he plans to play all 82 games this season, something he has only done once in his 22-year-long career. That is promising as the team needs all he can give them, and he is delivering amazingly well for a soon-to-be 40-year-old.
However, it is Anthony Davis who is leading the way and making an early push for the MVP. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game on 57% shooting. These are MVP numbers and should he be able to play enough games, it could be his year. He is also delivering on the defensive end so it could be a battle between him and Victor Wembanyama for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Minnesota Timberwolves
2026-01-25
Golden State Warriors
The Minnesota Timberwolves, seventh in the Western Conference 27 wins - 17 losses, are in tough times at the moment. The Wolves, for the first time this season, lost 4 times in a row. The first duel of this series was lost without Edwards injured by the Rockets 110-105. The second with the San Antonio Spurs for his return saw even AE record his career record. Finally, we saw the Wolves fall twice against the "little guys", at the Utah Jazz 127-122 and at home against the Bulls 115-120. The Golden State Warriors, 8th in the Western Conference with 25 wins and 21 losses, were shaken by Jimmy Butler's injury against the Miami Heat in a match won 135-112. The team was doing really well to the extent that it had a 4th success in a row. However, as the last two games of the Golden State Warriors show, both lost 127-145 to the Toronto Raptors and 123-115 to the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State suffered a blow to the head.

Sacramento Kings
The Detroit Pistons 1st, 32 wins - 10 losses display a lot of consistency this year in their season. The objective for this 2nd part of the season is very simple for Detroit. JB Bickerstaff's men, by continuing like this, will have every chance of keeping this 1st place and all the advantages that go with it. The Pistons, winners of 7 of their last 8 games before hosting the Houston Rockets, nevertheless lost 48 hours ago 104-111 against a back-to-back team. Major maneuvers should quickly begin at the Sacramento Kings in order to restructure the franchise for the years to come. LaVine and DeRozan, it didn't work. Sabonis missed more than half of the matches to make matters worse. The Frenchman M.Raynaud 10 points, 6.4 rebounds, however, succeeded in his first year in the big league. Option number, he passed Eubanks in the hierarchy and should be part of the future project. Sacramento, 14th in the West, will soon have no chance of joining the Play-offs, beaten for the 4th consecutive time in front of the Cleveland Cavaliers 123-118.

Denver Nuggets
A tiring trip to Europe for the Memphis Grizzlies whose rhythm has been really rotten since their return to the USA. Indeed, faced with a comfortable schedule, the Tennessee team has been struggling for a few games. After a first loss to the Atlanta Hawks 122-124, the reaction was mandatory for the reception of the New Orleans Pelicans, but did not take place. The Grizzlies lost 127-133 in a very offensive game for the reception of Zion Williamson's partners. The Denver Nuggets 3rd, 31 wins - 15 losses we can't repeat it enough, but the basketball that this team offers without Nikola Jokic is simply formidable. Injured since December 30, the Serbian is nevertheless present on the bench, still active in his atypical style to give valuable advice to his partners. On a road trip in the Western Conference, Mile Hile City first beat the Washington Wizards 97-107, then the Milwaukee Bucks secondly 100-102.

Miami Heat
The Utah Jazz 13th in the West, 15 wins - 30 losses has lost a lot of distance with a potential top 10. For two reasons. First the Mavericks 11th and with 4 wins in a row then the Clippers 10th with 14 wins in 17 games are distancing themselves from Utah. Secondly, the Salt Lake City team has lost a lot of games in the NBA recently, no less than 5 losses in the last 6 duels played by the franchise. Utah at home, 48 hours ago, ate the dust in front of Wembanyama's Spurs 109-126. The Miami Heat players 8th, 23 wins - 22 losses are in tough situations too. 6 defeats in 10 games for a positive franchise is enough to say that it is in poor shape. Coach Spoelstra's gang started their road trip to the West last Tuesday, in order to play no less than 5 games in front of the Warriors, the Kings, the Blazers, the Jazz and the Suns. The first meeting marked by Butler's serious injury turned sour 135-112, before seeing the Heat win over the sinking Kings 117-130, and finally falling to the Blazers 127-110.

L. A. Lakers
11th in the Western Conference 19 wins - 26 losses the Dallas Mavericks scraped a place 48 hours ago after a magnificent victory against the Golden State Warriors with a score of 123-115. Previously, Jason Kidd's men had beaten the Utah Jazz twice in Texas with a score of 144-122 the first time and 138-120 a second time, before taking over the NY Knicks at Madison Square Garden 97-114 for an XXL performance. Undoubtedly the best of the franchise this season on the road, after this success with Jokic's Nuggets but with Davis in 2025. The Los Angeles Lakers, 5th in the Western Conference with a record of 26 wins - 17 losses, are a little higher in this ranking in the West, but the crisis is not far away. Austin Reaves' injury had a strong impact on the good dynamic of the group, to the point of seeing it lose 6 of the last 10 games. A situation always very delicate to understand for such a strong and ambitious franchise, champion in 2020, but beaten 48 hours ago in the derby against the LA Clippers 112-104 for the 2nd time in a row in the Intuit Dome.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Months of October Banchero, November Banchero, Suggs, December F.Wagner, Suggs and January F.Wagner, Suggs disturbed by injuries, will not have allowed the Orlando Magic to find its structure, its balance. After a long and tiring trip to Europe - with a success in Berlin 118-111 but a defeat in London 126-109 against the Memphis Grizzlies - Orlando found the Charlotte Hornets back-to-back, against whom victory was obligatory. However Orlando lost 97-124, overwhelmed by the speed of the Hornets. The Cleveland Cavaliers, fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26 wins - 20 losses, are in good shape and back at a level of play expected at the start of the season. Like the 9 successes collected in the last 13 matches by the Ohio team, we can breathe a little easier. Winner of 4 of its last 5 games, Cleveland took advantage of weak opposition in recent days to initially win over the Charlotte Hornets 87-94, and the Sacramento Kings at home 123-118.

New Orleans Pelicans
With this 2nd place regained in the Western Conference 31 wins - 14 losses, the first part of the season for the San Antonio Spurs is a total success. Now keeping it is precious because by finishing in 2nd place, San Antonio is guaranteed to receive in the first round of the Play-offs and semi-final of the Play-offs, and play Phoenix or Lakers in the 1st round. Denver 31 victories, 3rd in the West is tied for victory, the Spurs, winners over the Utah Jazz 109-126 in the last match, are warned. The New Orleans Pelicans wait wisely in 15th and last place in the Western conference 11 victories - 36 defeats. However, it's a little less bad than usual for the Bayou players, victorious twice in their last 5 NBA games. Traveling to the Memphis Grizzlies, Zion Williamson's friends managed to win with a score of 127-133.

Dallas Mavericks
“Guys are selfish.” Giannis Antetokounmpo had lost his pin after the 102-122 defeat against the OKC Thunder a few days ago. A statement not to be underestimated, made by a boy whose desire to leave is becoming more and more pressing. His team Milwaukee is 11th 18 wins – 26 losses in the East and has lost 5 of its last 6 games, after this new setback 48 hours ago in front of a Denver team 100-102 in back-to-back, deprived of Murray, Jokic and Johnson. A blow to the infirmary, a blow back to the NBA courts, Anthony Davis is now certain of no longer playing a game for the Dallas Mavericks this year injured for the season. Nevertheless, 12th in the West, his franchise has shown a lot of courage in recent matches. The Mavericks had won their last 4 games in the NBA against the Jazz twice, Knicks and Warriors, before sinking to the Los Angeles Lakers in the last quarter 23-37 while the Mavericks led by 10 points.

Toronto Raptors
The OKC Thunder 37 wins – 9 losses should say goodbye to the 2016 Golden State Warriors record 73 wins – 9 losses. Unless we win 35 matches in a row, this record will not be equaled this year. Leader of the Western Conference nevertheless, best record in the league, OKC still fell twice in the last 4 games. A first defeat against the Miami Heat 122-120, for two successes against the Cavaliers 104-136 during MLK Day, and Milwaukee Bucks 102-122, before falling against Indiana 114-117. The Toronto Raptors 4th, 28 wins - 19 losses will arrive at the reigning champion in complete relaxation after several victories in a row during this road trip in the Western Conference. Indeed, this 5-game road trip will conclude this evening, previously it had started with a defeat at the Lakers 110-93, before seeing the T-Rex of Ontario shake the Chase Center of the Warriors 127-145, the Smoothie King Center of Sacramento 109-122 and the Portland Blazers 98-110.

Miami Heat
The Phoenix Suns sixth in the Western Conference 27 wins - 18 losses dream of keeping this pace now in order to qualify directly for the 1st round of the Play-offs. Knowing that at present the 4th Houston has the same record as Phoenix, the objectives of Devin Booker's franchise could nourish even greater hopes. The Atlanta Hawks, on the other hand, 48 hours ago in Georgia took over the Phoenix Suns by winning the bet with a score of 110-103. Coach Spoelstra's Miami Heat enters the arena now. Not a grimace for Miami but an irregularity which could pay off in cash at the end of the season when it comes time to do the accounts. Indeed over the last 8 matches, the Florida franchise wins 1 match, and loses 1 match. A series which began with a success against the Suns precisely 127-121, for a setback against the Celtics 114-119, success against OKC 122-120, so on for a long time, for a remarkable success last night against the Utah Jazz 116-147 24 hours ago.

Chicago Bulls
2026-01-30
Miami Heat
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, you would have told Chicago leaders "your team will be top 10, with a record of 17 wins - 20 losses", they would probably not have believed you. Because in fact, Chicago, by losing LaVine, DeRozan and Ball in recent months, put an end to a Big Three that never worked. The goal this year was to take on this reconstruction for Chicago but only a boy like Josh Giddey among the 3 big favorites for the MIP title heard it otherwise. In the absence of the injured Australian, however, Chicago lost its last 3 games to Charlotte 99-112, Celtics 115-101 and Pistons 108-93 last night. Opposite the Miami Heat are 8th in the Eastern Conference with 20 wins - 17 losses. The results of a team that is doing the job for the moment, living up to the ambitions of the franchise. However, the mayonnaise around T.Herro, B.Adebayo and N.Powell looks delicious, and when all 3 men are finally available at the same time, things will probably change. For now, after a great series of 4 consecutive victories, Miami wins one match, loses one match. Like his success Monday at home against the Pelicans 125-106 and his subsequent defeat at the Timberwolves 122-94.

So what about some immediate games and the newest NBA sports betting odds? We have you covered. This weekend is full of great games, particularly on Sunday. The Suns are playing the Kings in a great Western Conference duel. Considering their current form and how well the team is playing together, the Suns’ odds of 1.46 make sense over the Kings’ 2.80. The over/under is 227.5 and should be a great over (1.77) to play as both teams have some heavy hitters on their rosters. Among Durant, Booker, and Beal on one side and Fox, DeRozan, and Sabonis on the other, it should be an easy win.
The struggling Bucks are playing the Celtics in what was supposed to be an Eastern Conference clash of contenders. However, it is not guaranteed due to the current form of the Milwaukee team. Still, Giannis and Lillard have a lot to prove and could actually come on top. Tatum is the lone star as his team is incomplete, hence the 1.80 odds for the Celtics and the 2.06 odds for the Bucks. This may be the game that turns it around for the Wisconsin team.
Who doesn’t like when the New York Knicks are good? It is simply great for the league and the sport! They are the favorites in their upcoming clash with the Indiana Pacers as the trades proved successful. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges on one side, and Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner are more than enough to get you the 1.77 over on the 226.5 threshold. As for the winner, the Knicks should take it. The bookies predict it and give them 1.81 over the Pacers’ 2.05.
