NBA 2025 latest News and Predictions
Stay ahead of the game with our latest NBA blog! Get the inside scoop on the latest news, scores, and expert predictions.

Roughly a month into the newest edition of the NBA season and already there are plenty of storylines that fans need to know about. While it may have seemed like we got everything figured out before the start, many of the early predictions fell through as some rather unexpected developments took place. Injuries are already piling up, expected contenders are struggling, and there is an overall feeling of uncertainty and unfamiliarity because of these unexpected factors. One thing is certain: it is still rather exciting to see the best of the best go at it night in and night out.
Because of all this, it is not easy for someone deeply invested in the best that basketball has to offer. No longer can you watch a game and know full well who is taking it before it actually finishes. Anything can happen and a bunch of stuff is happening. So how can an average fan of the NBA, or more importantly, an online sports betting enthusiast, prepare for a full slate of games? Is it possible to do enough research and should you trust the odds the bookies make? To these and other questions, we give answers in the following guide. Read on if you love basketball for the newest news, speculations, and predictions.
Struggling Playoff Teams
Two of the bigger stories deal with teams that were expected to make early pushes for the top of the standings and eventually make a deep playoff run. These are mainly the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Considering the names in their ranks and their past success, one of them more so than the other, they should be good for most of the season, right? Well, it seems like that will not be the case this season. It is already looking very bad for them and we have barely scratched the surface.Let us start with Philly. The City of Brotherly Love has been Trusting the Process for years now, but alas, it was to no avail. After numerous disappointments and experiments with stars past their prime, Joel Embiid somehow won an MVP and everyone’s spirits were high. Then, of course, his injuries continued as he was still unable to finish a season and take the team past the second round. Now, he has yet to play a single game this season. He was involved in two controversies already.
First, he said that if it were up to him, he would never play in back-to-back games until the end of his career. For this, the league launched an investigation into Philadelphia’s conducting of player absences. Then, the shoved a reporter in the locker room and got suspended for three games. And all of this after missing the first few games due to injury. It cannot get any worse, can it? Well, Tyrese Maxey is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and Paul George is a bit rusty after missing the first several games of the season. All in all, the 76ers are one of the worst teams right now with a 1-7 record and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Betting against them would not be a bad idea going forward.
Right above them with an abysmal 2-7 record are the Milwaukee Bucks, who, compared to Philly, are not struggling with any drama or major injuries to their stars. Sure, Khris Middleton is absent still and is yet to appear this season, but they are used to it by now. Their struggles come from a few other places. First off, it does seem like Doc Rivers is the greatest fraud in NBA coaching in the last 20 years. Since he took over, everything has gone downhill. Losing Jrue Holiday and getting Damian Lillard proved like a mistake as the team is struggling mightily on the defensive end and the duo of Giannis Antetokiunpo and Lillard cannot carry the entire offense on their own. If one of them misses a game, it is a definite loss, and they do tend to miss a game from time to time.
The lack of help from the bench as well as the remainder of the starting five is simply not enough to compete in the East right now. Other teams are younger, faster, and more talented, while the Bucks are the oldest team in the league with an average age of 30.4 years. All you need to know about their roster struggles is the fact that they are playing a 36-year-old Brook Lopez for 30 minutes a game. There is no end in sight to their struggles and Giannis constantly appears in trade rumors. It would be one of the biggest shakeups in the history of the league if or when the Bucks make a move. This cannot go on for much longer as frustration is already at a peak.
Cavaliers are for Real
On the opposite end of the spectrum are the incredible Cleveland Cavaliers who have run out of the gate to start the season and kept on sprinting. Throw a hurdle at them and they will clear it by a mile. Nothing seems to be phasing them as they opened the new campaign with a 10-0 and it seems like there is no end in sight to their amazing stretch. This is the best start in franchise history, and we are talking about a team that is synonymous with LeBron James. At the moment, Stake gives them the odds of 19.00 to take the title, with 7 other teams in front. Capitalizing now would be an amazing wagering foresight and they could very well do it.
Donovan Mitchel and Darius Garland are leading the backcourt while the twin towers of Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen are anchoring the post. Such a combination of size and speed, offense and defense, is not present in many other teams. Add a constant threat from beyond the arc from the likes of Max Strus, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, and Isaac Okoro, and you have a well-rounded team poised for greatness. Betting on the Cavs is one of the surest things in basketball right now so be sure to ride the wave until it lasts. It is a good time once again to be an NBA fan in Cleveland.
Phoenix, Thunder, Celtics on a Roll
This assortment of contenders is doing their thing to open the season as all three teams are great right now. The Phoenix Suns are atop the Western Conference with an 8-1 record, same as the second-best Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic are leading the way as the team is winning games, both close and lopsided, and finally playing well together. The chemistry of OKC is unmatched and it is just so good to watch the guys interact with each other and play so well together. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are leading the way and their supporting cast is unlike anything else in the league. They could be ready for that final push come playoff time.In the East, right under the mighty Cavs is the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. With the odds to take another title and cement the dynasty being 3.60, they are still the bookies’ favorites. However, many teams are off to an amazing start and could ruin their best chance at a repeat in almost 4 decades. Jason Tatum is playing like an MVP, again, and several guys are coming into their own, especially Payton Pritchard. With Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis down with injuries, the Cs have not yet taken out their best starting five onto the court this season. It is a scary thought to have but there is no saying how good they will be when the gears start turning midway through the season.
Numerous Early MVP Candidates
After the first two weeks, the MVP battle looked nothing like we expected it to. Some names appeared there that no sane person would think of. For example, two Clippers players are incredible right now, but none of them are named James Harden or Kawhi Leonard. It is Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac who have been carrying the load and are the main contributors to the positive 5-4 record of a team who were supposed to be where the Bucks and Philly are right now. Zubac is averaging 16.7 points and 12.8 rebounds while Powell is playing out of his mind with 25.7 points per game. The Sacramento Kings hoped for a better start than their current 5-4 record, but there is a lot to be optimistic about right now. They have three players averaging more than 20 points per game. De’Aron Fox is leading the way with 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. DeMar DeRozan is currently at 24.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 20.6 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game and has already had several triple-doubles.
that's a wrap from the desert, catch y'all tm for another one 🫡

Defensive Player of the Game presented by @phoonglawcorp pic.twitter.com/JfANZzwY8h
Speaking of the Lithuanian superstar, he has had one of the best games in history, a perfect game as many called it. In their November 6 win over the Toronto Raptors, he did something nobody else has. Pay attention. He had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. He added 1 steal to it. But the great thing about it is that he shot 100% from the floor, 6/6, 100% from the free throw, 5/5, and did not have a single foul or turnover! Such a game is unheard of and it is a testament to how the new, non-American players (Jokic, Sabonis, Giannis, Luka, Shai) are changing the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in the 7th spot with a 5-4 record after opening the season in big fashion. With big stories surrounding them, none bigger than Bronny James and the new coaching staff led by JJ Reddick, they are handling the business well enough. LeBron James says he plans to play all 82 games this season, something he has only done once in his 22-year-long career. That is promising as the team needs all he can give them, and he is delivering amazingly well for a soon-to-be 40-year-old.
However, it is Anthony Davis who is leading the way and making an early push for the MVP. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game on 57% shooting. These are MVP numbers and should he be able to play enough games, it could be his year. He is also delivering on the defensive end so it could be a battle between him and Victor Wembanyama for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Upcoming Games and Odds
Sacramento Kings

Dallas Mavericks
Believing now in the Sacramento Kings' chances of qualifying for the Play-offs has become very utopian. 15th in the Western Conference 7 wins - 23 losses, one thing is certain, the transplant is not taking in California around LaVine, DeRozan and Murray. The current form, before fighting tonight, is very weak as you can imagine, we are talking about a franchise with 7 defeats in the last 8 games in the NBA. The Sacramento Kings lost last at home midweek to the Detroit Pistons 127-136. The Dallas Mavericks 11th in the West, 12 wins - 20 losses changed the destiny of their season after the return of Davis, plus the rise to power of C.Flagg the rookie superstar. However, as you now know, in a team with Anthony Davis, the latter depends enormously on the superstar's stints in the local infirmary. And for now unfortunately, Davis has just been injured again against the Golden State Warriors 126-116 defeat for the Christmas game and will miss several games. The snake that bites its own tail...

L. A. Clippers
The Portland Trail Blazers 10th, 12 wins - 18 losses, no disrespect to them, are less ridiculous than expected. Indeed, the worst was predicted without Lillard and in no case did we imagine seeing Avdija in MVP mode or even J.Holiday adapting so well in this group. After a series of 3 successes, Portland is in tough shape on the other hand after losing the Detroit Pistons 102-110 and then in front of the Orlando Magic 106-110. The Los Angeles Clippers have banged their fists on the table during the last matches. The situation was delicate for the Clippers currently in 13th place 8 wins - 21 losses but who seem to have revolted. A first very important success 103-88 in the Los Angeles Lakers derby and then ahead of the Houston Rockets at the end of a new one-sided match 128-108.

Detroit Pistons
The Utah Jazz 12th, in the Western Conference with a record of 10 wins and 19 losses, is moving further and further away from the top 10 of the Western Conf. To tell you, already reaching 10 successes at this stage of the year for the Utah Jazz is not bad at all, but from there to holding up in the long term, we don't really believe in it. Moreover, the Utah Jazz have lost their last 4 games in the NBA: to the Los Angeles Lakers 135-143, Orlando Magic 127-128, Denver Nuggets 132-115 and Memphis Grizzlies 128-137. Detroit, leader of the Eastern Conference, is currently engaged in a road trip of several matches in the Western Conference, which is going very well at the moment for JB Bickerstaff's men. After a success against the Charlotte Hornets 112-86 before leaving Michigan, Detroit then won its first 2 duels on the road in front of the Portland Trail Blazers 102-110 and the Sacramento Kings 127-136.

Milwaukee Bucks
The Memphis Grizzlies are progressing well after a start to the season marked by the setbacks once again for Ja Morant. The guys are 3000% focused. Winners of the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-116, they were full of confidence before falling last weekend at home to the Wizards 122-130 and at the start of the week against OKC 119-103. The reaction was obligatory against Utah, and it took place 128-137 in Salt Lake City. The situation with the Milwaukee Bucks is now known. We don't know if Giannis will want to stay. If he leaves Wisconsin it is a disaster predicted for years to come and we will have to rebuild. And if he stays, we will have to recruit to surround him. The franchise is 11th in the Eastern Conference. After losing 3 games in a row in Brooklyn, Toronto and Minnesota, Milwaukee took the measure of Indiana, a franchise that is doing even worse than the Bucks: 94-111.

Boston Celtics
As much when Indiana 14th, 6 wins - 24 losses started to win a few games in front of the Bulls 105-120 for the first success of this team on the road on December 6 then in front of the Sacramento Kings in the process 116-105, the opportunity to restart was great. But Indiana, then traveling to the 76ers occasionally deprived of T. Maxey and at home to the Washington Wizards, lost both 115-105 and 89-108 respectively. Before losing the next 4 Knicks, Pelicans, Celtics and Bucks for a series of 6 losses in progress therefore. Conversely, this Boston team, NBA champion in 2023, has regained its balance, a lot of cohesion, all without its best element Jayson Tatum. The Celtics 3rd, 18 victories - 11 defeats encountered at the very start of the season the same problems as the Pacers, namely very little balance, and a disorderly team without its leader. But Boston, on the other hand, found its rhythm, with this 3rd place, and 3 consecutive successes collected, series in progress, ahead of the Miami Heat 129-116, the Raptors 96-112 and the Pacers 103-95.

Toronto Raptors
Having a lot of understanding and showing expectation is the game of rebuilding franchises like the Wizards. But for Washington this has been going on for years, at a time when no one seems capable of taking control of this franchise in order to bring it to the heights of the Eastern Conference. Last Wednesday, Christmas Eve, Washington was defeated by the Charlotte Hornets with a score of 126-109. A 7th defeat in 9 games for the last in the League. Fragile 4th in the Eastern Conference, Toronto 18 wins - 13 losses has recently lost a bunch of matches. No less than 6 defeats in the last 9 games for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. Something to be concerned about, especially after a series of 5 consecutive defeats at home against the Lakers 120-123, Hornets 86-111, Celtics 113-121, and Knicks 101-117, then Boston Celtics 96-112. Fortunately things are going much better for the Raptors on the road like this 91-112 success against Miami.

Phoenix Suns
NOLA last week surprised everyone by winning the bet ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers 143-120 to start, Chicago Bulls 104-114 in a second phase, then ahead of Kevin Durant's Houston Rockets 133-128, and Indiana 128-109 to follow up with a 4th consecutive success. On the other hand, NOLA lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 141-118 in the middle of the week, before surrendering last night during the first duel between the Pelicans and the Suns 108-115. 4 successes in 6 matches, even worth noting for a 14th in the conference. Present within this top 8 Phoenix is the biggest surprise this first part of the table in the Western Conference. Scheduled last year for the top 6 with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, the franchise did not qualify for the Play-offs, which will cause the departures of the first two mentioned. In return for KD, Phoenix had recovered Jalen Green and D.Brooks but no luck JG is injured 2-3 games played, yet Phoenix clings to this 7th place 17 wins - 13 losses, winner last night in NOLA. To finish with our little personal opinion, given the level displayed by the top 6 this year in the West, if Phoenix plays the Play-offs, we will have to hang on...

Denver Nuggets
A 6th place in the standings for Orlando 17 wins - 14 losses is already very good news because unlike certain ambitious franchises whose injuries handicap the group on a daily basis, the Magic remains in the race for the Play-offs. Indeed, we could perhaps count on the fingers of two hands the number of matches played together by F.Wagner and P.Banchero. A situation which weighed down Orlando last year, forcing it to eat the defending champion Boston in the first round of the Play-offs. The Magic are therefore aiming for a spot in the top 4, but have just performed very poorly last night against the Charlotte Hornets, losing 105-120. First player with more than 50 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists in a game, Nikola Jokic hung the star at the top of the tree for Christmas Eve. To conclude this 5-game card in style, Denver hosted Anthony Edwards' Minnesota Timberwolves in its home arena. At the end of a magnificent game with an equally exciting storyline, Denver won the game with a score of 142-138 after overtime. As a reminder, Dallas 131-130 ended the Denver Nuggets' streak of 11 consecutive away wins.

New York Knicks
This 2025-26 financial year began under the best auspices for the locals but the results are disastrous. The balance was good but the return of T.Young is currently a nightmare. It's very easy to understand Trae Young made his return against the Hornets on the road on December 19, Atlanta lost the game 133-126, then absent in the defeat against the Spurs, and present during the two defeats against the Chicago Bulls at home 150-152 and 123-126 twice, and in front of the Miami Heat last night 111-126. The alarm bells have been ringing since this defeat for the Hawks. Winners of the NBA Cup ahead of the San Antonio Spurs 124-113 a few days ago, the New York Knicks put on an XXL match in front of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the opening of the Christmas card. A stunning match in which they were down +17 6-7 minutes from the end of the game. But under the leadership of J.Brunson 34 points among the most decisive guys in the high-stakes matches, NY will completely reverse the trend to win with a score of 126-124 at home. 2nd in the Eastern Conference 21 wins - 9 losses NY has won 8 of its last 10 games in the NBA.

Cleveland Cavaliers
The Houston Rockets 6th, 18 wins - 10 losses, are currently in very worrying shape, there is no doubt. Yes, the Texans beat the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Eve in a very important game, but don't forget what happened before. Indeed, KD's partners had lost consecutively or almost, in front of the 3 most shaky teams in the Western Conference, namely the Pelicans 133-128 on December 19, the Kings on December 22 125-124 and the LA Clippers on December 24 128-108. Obvious professional misconduct for a declining Cleveland franchise. Traveling to the New York Knicks to open the Christmas card, Cleveland had the match in hand, leading by +17 with 8 minutes to go, before being devastated by the stifling atmosphere of a white-hot Madison Square Garden. In front of a delirious crowd, the Knicks, guided by Jalen Brunson so much above Donovan Mitchell in the clutch moments of a game, won the bet 126-124 in order to overwhelm the Cavaliers, beaten 4 times in the last 6 games.

Chicago Bulls

Milwaukee Bucks
Although they have suffered 9 defeats in the last 11 NBA games, the Chicago Bulls have found a lot of consistency and cohesion. Indeed, it took a double confrontation against the Cleveland Cavaliers to restart the machine. After victories 127-111 and 125-136, the Bulls managed to double the lead also in front of the Atlanta Hawks 150-152 then 123-126. In a maddening confidence when hosting the 76ers, Chicago took the measure of the latter last night 109-102 and will be back-to-back. Like yesterday, the situation around the Milwaukee Bucks is very average... We don't know if Giannis will want to stay. If he leaves Wisconsin it is a disaster predicted for years to come and we will have to rebuild. And if he stays, we will have to recruit to surround him. But now, given the results generated since the Greek's injury 11th place, 12 wins - 19 losses, the trader would perhaps be the best for the Bucks who will recover very heavy in return, and potentially with a super round of 2026 Draft to come. So far last night Milwaukee lost heavily at Memphis 125-104.

San Antonio Spurs
2025-12-28
Utah Jazz
The San Antonio Spurs have completely changed dimensions in the space of 2 weeks. The reason is very simple and normally you know it, San Antonio hit the formidable OKC Thunder 3 times in December. If in the NBA Cup San Antonio won the battle 111-109, it was completely different in the next 2 games. First, on the night of the 23rd to the 24th, V.Wembanyama's gang crushed the reigning champion at home 130-110, before doing it again during Christmas on the 25th in OKC 102-117. The Spurs have won their last 8 games; the defeat against the Knicks in the NBA Cup final did not count in the balance sheet. The Utah Jazz's position is very delicate to negotiate. The Salt Lake City team occupies 12th place in the standings with a record of 11 wins - 19 losses, but for what purpose? Because in fact, if the Jazz were to miraculously reach, and by a miracle reach 8th place, playing OKC, Denver or San Antonio in the first round will turn into a butchery. The group as a whole, although it won another very offensive match against the Pistons last night 131-129, will not normally be able to hold out over time.

So what about some immediate games and the newest NBA sports betting odds? We have you covered. This weekend is full of great games, particularly on Sunday. The Suns are playing the Kings in a great Western Conference duel. Considering their current form and how well the team is playing together, the Suns’ odds of 1.46 make sense over the Kings’ 2.80. The over/under is 227.5 and should be a great over (1.77) to play as both teams have some heavy hitters on their rosters. Among Durant, Booker, and Beal on one side and Fox, DeRozan, and Sabonis on the other, it should be an easy win.
The struggling Bucks are playing the Celtics in what was supposed to be an Eastern Conference clash of contenders. However, it is not guaranteed due to the current form of the Milwaukee team. Still, Giannis and Lillard have a lot to prove and could actually come on top. Tatum is the lone star as his team is incomplete, hence the 1.80 odds for the Celtics and the 2.06 odds for the Bucks. This may be the game that turns it around for the Wisconsin team.
Who doesn’t like when the New York Knicks are good? It is simply great for the league and the sport! They are the favorites in their upcoming clash with the Indiana Pacers as the trades proved successful. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges on one side, and Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner are more than enough to get you the 1.77 over on the 226.5 threshold. As for the winner, the Knicks should take it. The bookies predict it and give them 1.81 over the Pacers’ 2.05.
