NBA 2025 latest News and Predictions
Stay ahead of the game with our latest NBA blog! Get the inside scoop on the latest news, scores, and expert predictions.

Roughly a month into the newest edition of the NBA season and already there are plenty of storylines that fans need to know about. While it may have seemed like we got everything figured out before the start, many of the early predictions fell through as some rather unexpected developments took place. Injuries are already piling up, expected contenders are struggling, and there is an overall feeling of uncertainty and unfamiliarity because of these unexpected factors. One thing is certain: it is still rather exciting to see the best of the best go at it night in and night out.
Because of all this, it is not easy for someone deeply invested in the best that basketball has to offer. No longer can you watch a game and know full well who is taking it before it actually finishes. Anything can happen and a bunch of stuff is happening. So how can an average fan of the NBA, or more importantly, an online sports betting enthusiast, prepare for a full slate of games? Is it possible to do enough research and should you trust the odds the bookies make? To these and other questions, we give answers in the following guide. Read on if you love basketball for the newest news, speculations, and predictions.
Struggling Playoff Teams
Two of the bigger stories deal with teams that were expected to make early pushes for the top of the standings and eventually make a deep playoff run. These are mainly the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Considering the names in their ranks and their past success, one of them more so than the other, they should be good for most of the season, right? Well, it seems like that will not be the case this season. It is already looking very bad for them and we have barely scratched the surface.Let us start with Philly. The City of Brotherly Love has been Trusting the Process for years now, but alas, it was to no avail. After numerous disappointments and experiments with stars past their prime, Joel Embiid somehow won an MVP and everyone’s spirits were high. Then, of course, his injuries continued as he was still unable to finish a season and take the team past the second round. Now, he has yet to play a single game this season. He was involved in two controversies already.
First, he said that if it were up to him, he would never play in back-to-back games until the end of his career. For this, the league launched an investigation into Philadelphia’s conducting of player absences. Then, the shoved a reporter in the locker room and got suspended for three games. And all of this after missing the first few games due to injury. It cannot get any worse, can it? Well, Tyrese Maxey is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and Paul George is a bit rusty after missing the first several games of the season. All in all, the 76ers are one of the worst teams right now with a 1-7 record and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Betting against them would not be a bad idea going forward.
Right above them with an abysmal 2-7 record are the Milwaukee Bucks, who, compared to Philly, are not struggling with any drama or major injuries to their stars. Sure, Khris Middleton is absent still and is yet to appear this season, but they are used to it by now. Their struggles come from a few other places. First off, it does seem like Doc Rivers is the greatest fraud in NBA coaching in the last 20 years. Since he took over, everything has gone downhill. Losing Jrue Holiday and getting Damian Lillard proved like a mistake as the team is struggling mightily on the defensive end and the duo of Giannis Antetokiunpo and Lillard cannot carry the entire offense on their own. If one of them misses a game, it is a definite loss, and they do tend to miss a game from time to time.
The lack of help from the bench as well as the remainder of the starting five is simply not enough to compete in the East right now. Other teams are younger, faster, and more talented, while the Bucks are the oldest team in the league with an average age of 30.4 years. All you need to know about their roster struggles is the fact that they are playing a 36-year-old Brook Lopez for 30 minutes a game. There is no end in sight to their struggles and Giannis constantly appears in trade rumors. It would be one of the biggest shakeups in the history of the league if or when the Bucks make a move. This cannot go on for much longer as frustration is already at a peak.
Cavaliers are for Real
On the opposite end of the spectrum are the incredible Cleveland Cavaliers who have run out of the gate to start the season and kept on sprinting. Throw a hurdle at them and they will clear it by a mile. Nothing seems to be phasing them as they opened the new campaign with a 10-0 and it seems like there is no end in sight to their amazing stretch. This is the best start in franchise history, and we are talking about a team that is synonymous with LeBron James. At the moment, Stake gives them the odds of 19.00 to take the title, with 7 other teams in front. Capitalizing now would be an amazing wagering foresight and they could very well do it.
Donovan Mitchel and Darius Garland are leading the backcourt while the twin towers of Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen are anchoring the post. Such a combination of size and speed, offense and defense, is not present in many other teams. Add a constant threat from beyond the arc from the likes of Max Strus, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, and Isaac Okoro, and you have a well-rounded team poised for greatness. Betting on the Cavs is one of the surest things in basketball right now so be sure to ride the wave until it lasts. It is a good time once again to be an NBA fan in Cleveland.
Phoenix, Thunder, Celtics on a Roll
This assortment of contenders is doing their thing to open the season as all three teams are great right now. The Phoenix Suns are atop the Western Conference with an 8-1 record, same as the second-best Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic are leading the way as the team is winning games, both close and lopsided, and finally playing well together. The chemistry of OKC is unmatched and it is just so good to watch the guys interact with each other and play so well together. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are leading the way and their supporting cast is unlike anything else in the league. They could be ready for that final push come playoff time.In the East, right under the mighty Cavs is the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. With the odds to take another title and cement the dynasty being 3.60, they are still the bookies’ favorites. However, many teams are off to an amazing start and could ruin their best chance at a repeat in almost 4 decades. Jason Tatum is playing like an MVP, again, and several guys are coming into their own, especially Payton Pritchard. With Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis down with injuries, the Cs have not yet taken out their best starting five onto the court this season. It is a scary thought to have but there is no saying how good they will be when the gears start turning midway through the season.
Numerous Early MVP Candidates
After the first two weeks, the MVP battle looked nothing like we expected it to. Some names appeared there that no sane person would think of. For example, two Clippers players are incredible right now, but none of them are named James Harden or Kawhi Leonard. It is Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac who have been carrying the load and are the main contributors to the positive 5-4 record of a team who were supposed to be where the Bucks and Philly are right now. Zubac is averaging 16.7 points and 12.8 rebounds while Powell is playing out of his mind with 25.7 points per game. The Sacramento Kings hoped for a better start than their current 5-4 record, but there is a lot to be optimistic about right now. They have three players averaging more than 20 points per game. De’Aron Fox is leading the way with 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. DeMar DeRozan is currently at 24.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 20.6 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game and has already had several triple-doubles.
that's a wrap from the desert, catch y'all tm for another one 🫡

Defensive Player of the Game presented by @phoonglawcorp pic.twitter.com/JfANZzwY8h
Speaking of the Lithuanian superstar, he has had one of the best games in history, a perfect game as many called it. In their November 6 win over the Toronto Raptors, he did something nobody else has. Pay attention. He had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. He added 1 steal to it. But the great thing about it is that he shot 100% from the floor, 6/6, 100% from the free throw, 5/5, and did not have a single foul or turnover! Such a game is unheard of and it is a testament to how the new, non-American players (Jokic, Sabonis, Giannis, Luka, Shai) are changing the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in the 7th spot with a 5-4 record after opening the season in big fashion. With big stories surrounding them, none bigger than Bronny James and the new coaching staff led by JJ Reddick, they are handling the business well enough. LeBron James says he plans to play all 82 games this season, something he has only done once in his 22-year-long career. That is promising as the team needs all he can give them, and he is delivering amazingly well for a soon-to-be 40-year-old.
However, it is Anthony Davis who is leading the way and making an early push for the MVP. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game on 57% shooting. These are MVP numbers and should he be able to play enough games, it could be his year. He is also delivering on the defensive end so it could be a battle between him and Victor Wembanyama for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Upcoming Games and Odds
Washington Wizards
2026-02-04
New York Knicks
Washington, barring an improbable turnaround, has already made its deal before the deadline by snatching T.Young from the clutches of the Atlanta Falcons. T.Young with the aim of making him the superstar leader of the franchise will be supported by Sarr, Coulibaly, Carrington. A brilliant youth which will be further strengthened after the arrival of a new round of Draft. 14th in the Eastern Conference 13 wins - 35 losses, DC won its last duel at home in front of the Sacramento Kings 116-112. The New York Knicks 2nd in the East, 31 wins - 18 losses after a solid slump come back with better arguments that's for sure. J.Brunson's partners have won their last 6 duels. Following a setback that was very difficult for the group to digest against the Dallas Mavericks 97-114 at the end of January, the group came together in order to win the following 6 games in front of the Brooklyn Nets in the derby, notably 120-66, the 76ers 112-109, the Kings 103-87, Raptors 92-119, Blazers 127-97 and Lakers 112-100.

Denver Nuggets
Huge surprise in the Eastern Conference, Detroit is leader 36 wins - 12 losses. An average of 3 wins every 4 matches played, but no respect from the bookmakers who give them a similar rating to Cleveland, New York and Boston less well ranked for the Eastern Conference title. The Pistons, winners of 8 of their last 10 games, recently managed to tame the Warriors 124-131 and then the Nets 130-77. Denver's situation is very quick to understand from an objective point of view in order not to repeat the same mistakes compared to last season. Indeed, the Nuggets will seek to avoid the Thunder in the case of a hypothetical half-conf. Last year they lost at the end of game 7 against the Thunder 4-3. Avoiding them in the semi-final would be perfect, but to do so you will have to finish 3rd or 2nd. Denver last Saturday after a success against the Clippers for the return of Jokic 122-109, suffered the full brunt of the reaction of the OKC Thunder 111-121.

Utah Jazz
The Indiana Pacers are once again 15th in the Eastern Conference after the success of the Washington Wizards over the Sacramento Kings 116-112. But above all, they played at the same time against the Houston Rockets deprived of Durant. Indiana in good shape after successes against the Bulls 113-110 and the Hawks 129-124, delivered a great match against a candidate for the title in the East, but beaten at the end of an uncontrolled end of the match from the men of R.Carlisle 114-118. The Utah Jazz are among the franchises interested in shaking things up before Thursday's deadline. Indeed the Utah Jazz have the desire to study all the offers which L.Markkanen, the superstar of the franchise, is subject to. Although he is very talented, the Finn maintains an XXL market value, and at almost 29 years old he is looking for a project closer to the title than a reconstruction. The Utah Jazz have lost their last 6 games in the NBA. A very rotten series which began on January 23 in front of the Spurs 109-126 and for the moment ended in front of the Raptors 107-100 48 hours ago.

Atlanta Hawks
The Miami Heat have crossed swords with the Chicago Bulls no less than 3 times in a row. After the first won by the Miami Heat in Illinois 113-116, Chicago responded however deprived of Giddey, White and Vukcevic with a success with a score of 118-125. Act III took place in the Kaseya Center again. And this time, there is no room for doubt, the Miami Heat made this meeting a priority by winning the bet with a score of 134-91. The Florida team, 7th in the East, is getting closer to a top 6. The Atlanta Hawks, 10th in the Eastern Conference, 24 wins – 27 losses, are overall on the right track. Indeed, they have won 4 of their last 6 games in the NBA. Atlanta, well before the deadline began, had started the big maneuvers by recovering T.Young in exchange for CJ McCollum and Kispert. Recovering two guys not injured, against a boy who has been in the infirmary since the start of the season or almost, seemed like a good deal. The two men like Kispert's 11 points and McCollum's 18 points contribute a lot, but not enough to beat the Indiana Pacers 129-124.

LA Lakers
The Brooklyn Nets 13th in the Eastern Conference 13 wins - 35 losses will have the mission of creating something out of not much in the months to come. Already, negotiating the trade deadline well seems important for the New York franchise. Defeated 8 times in the last 9 games, BK no longer has any illusions in its current course, massacred in front of the Detroit Pistons 130-77 in the last match. The Los Angeles Lakers 6th, 29 wins - 19 losses criticized since the start of the year are nevertheless 6th in the Western Conference, 60% of the way through the regular season. Traveling this evening for an 8th consecutive match, the organizations are increasingly tired for JJ Reddick's players. The latter lost 2 of their last 3 games in the NBA against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday 29 with a score of 129-99, for a success against the Washington Wizards 111-142 and to finish with a success against the NY Knicks 112-100.

Dallas Mavericks

Boston Celtics
The Dallas Mavericks are seeking a Play-in spot after 60% of the regular season has passed. A paradox for a franchise whose ambitions were immense but too unlucky with Anthony Davis still injured, and absent for the remainder of the season. In very poor form at the moment, the Texan team lost its last 4 games in the NBA, firstly against the Lakers 110-116, ahead of the Wolves 105-118, Charlotte Hornets 121-123 at the end of a match where C.Flagg had scored 49 points and in the derby against the Rockets 111-107. The Boston Celtics are engaged in a race for the first 3 places with the Detroit Pistons leaders, 36-12 and the NY Knicks 2nd, 31-18. The Boston Greens have had solid arguments to spare in recent days, winning 3 of their last 4 duels in the big league. The last two were largely won in front of the Sacramento Kings, firstly with a score of 112-93 and then against the Milwaukee Bucks with a score of 107-79.

L. A. Clippers

Philadelphia 76ers
The Los Angeles Clippers 10th, 20 wins - 24 losses have activated express comeback mode for 2 months. Kawhi Leonard's partners no longer leave anything to chance. They win matches, hurt their opponents. The numbers are crazy. We are talking about a team with 17 wins in the last 21 games. Of course, during this period no one can sit at the same table as the Clippers, no one, not even the Thunder. The last result speaks for itself. Traveling last night against the victorious Suns in front of the Pistons and the Cavaliers successively at home, Los Angeles was superior in all areas: victory 93-117. Philadelphia, sixth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 27 wins - 21 losses, will be a franchise to watch very closely as the Play-offs approach. Indeed, Philly is a false sixth. With Embiid it's a top 4 Eastern Conference team, but without Embiid it's a top 8 team. The Cameroonian is often injured or left to rest, this 6th place is a fair average in the end. The Sixers travel this evening with confidence, following 3 successes obtained in their room. After successes against the Bucks 139-122, and the Kings 113-111, Philadelphia beat the Pelicans 124-114 to continue with a 3rd success.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Season to quickly forget for the Grizzlies. After letting go of D.Bane this summer who formed the starting backcourt with Ja Morant, the franchise conceded its first admission of weakness without really knowing it. Then, JM was soon talked about, then suspended and on the move, but ultimately still there but injured. Nobody knows, however, if he will leave the franchise before Thursday or stay. The Grizzlies 12th, 18 wins - 29 losses are not only down in the standings, but they have also lost their last 6 games in the NBA: against the Hawks, Pelicans, Rockets, Hornets, Pelicans and Timberwolves 114-131 for duel 1 between the two franchises. On the side of the Minnesota Timberwolves fifth in the Western Conference 30 wins - 19 losses, we find the fangs. Indeed, Anthony Edwards' partners win and make an impression. After successes against the Warriors 108-83 and the Mavericks 105-118, they defeated the champion OKC Thunder for the second time this season with a score of 123-111 in the middle of last week. Full of confidence, Minnesota won easily during the first duel between the two teams with a score of 114-131.

So what about some immediate games and the newest NBA sports betting odds? We have you covered. This weekend is full of great games, particularly on Sunday. The Suns are playing the Kings in a great Western Conference duel. Considering their current form and how well the team is playing together, the Suns’ odds of 1.46 make sense over the Kings’ 2.80. The over/under is 227.5 and should be a great over (1.77) to play as both teams have some heavy hitters on their rosters. Among Durant, Booker, and Beal on one side and Fox, DeRozan, and Sabonis on the other, it should be an easy win.
The struggling Bucks are playing the Celtics in what was supposed to be an Eastern Conference clash of contenders. However, it is not guaranteed due to the current form of the Milwaukee team. Still, Giannis and Lillard have a lot to prove and could actually come on top. Tatum is the lone star as his team is incomplete, hence the 1.80 odds for the Celtics and the 2.06 odds for the Bucks. This may be the game that turns it around for the Wisconsin team.
Who doesn’t like when the New York Knicks are good? It is simply great for the league and the sport! They are the favorites in their upcoming clash with the Indiana Pacers as the trades proved successful. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges on one side, and Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner are more than enough to get you the 1.77 over on the 226.5 threshold. As for the winner, the Knicks should take it. The bookies predict it and give them 1.81 over the Pacers’ 2.05.
