NBA News and Predictions

Roughly a month into the newest edition of the NBA season and already there are plenty of storylines that fans need to know about. While it may have seemed like we got everything figured out before the start, many of the early predictions fell through as some rather unexpected developments took place. Injuries are already piling up, expected contenders are struggling, and there is an overall feeling of uncertainty and unfamiliarity because of these unexpected factors. One thing is certain: it is still rather exciting to see the best of the best go at it night in and night out.

Because of all this, it is not easy for someone deeply invested in the best that basketball has to offer. No longer can you watch a game and know full well who is taking it before it actually finishes. Anything can happen and a bunch of stuff is happening. So how can an average fan of the NBA, or more importantly, an online sports betting enthusiast, prepare for a full slate of games? Is it possible to do enough research and should you trust the odds the bookies make? To these and other questions, we give answers in the following guide. Read on if you love basketball for the newest news, speculations, and predictions.

Struggling Playoff Teams

Two of the bigger stories deal with teams that were expected to make early pushes for the top of the standings and eventually make a deep playoff run. These are mainly the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Considering the names in their ranks and their past success, one of them more so than the other, they should be good for most of the season, right? Well, it seems like that will not be the case this season. It is already looking very bad for them and we have barely scratched the surface.

Let us start with Philly. The City of Brotherly Love has been Trusting the Process for years now, but alas, it was to no avail. After numerous disappointments and experiments with stars past their prime, Joel Embiid somehow won an MVP and everyone’s spirits were high. Then, of course, his injuries continued as he was still unable to finish a season and take the team past the second round. Now, he has yet to play a single game this season. He was involved in two controversies already.

First, he said that if it were up to him, he would never play in back-to-back games until the end of his career. For this, the league launched an investigation into Philadelphia’s conducting of player absences. Then, the shoved a reporter in the locker room and got suspended for three games. And all of this after missing the first few games due to injury. It cannot get any worse, can it? Well, Tyrese Maxey is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and Paul George is a bit rusty after missing the first several games of the season. All in all, the 76ers are one of the worst teams right now with a 1-7 record and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Betting against them would not be a bad idea going forward.

Right above them with an abysmal 2-7 record are the Milwaukee Bucks, who, compared to Philly, are not struggling with any drama or major injuries to their stars. Sure, Khris Middleton is absent still and is yet to appear this season, but they are used to it by now. Their struggles come from a few other places. First off, it does seem like Doc Rivers is the greatest fraud in NBA coaching in the last 20 years. Since he took over, everything has gone downhill. Losing Jrue Holiday and getting Damian Lillard proved like a mistake as the team is struggling mightily on the defensive end and the duo of Giannis Antetokiunpo and Lillard cannot carry the entire offense on their own. If one of them misses a game, it is a definite loss, and they do tend to miss a game from time to time.

The lack of help from the bench as well as the remainder of the starting five is simply not enough to compete in the East right now. Other teams are younger, faster, and more talented, while the Bucks are the oldest team in the league with an average age of 30.4 years. All you need to know about their roster struggles is the fact that they are playing a 36-year-old Brook Lopez for 30 minutes a game. There is no end in sight to their struggles and Giannis constantly appears in trade rumors. It would be one of the biggest shakeups in the history of the league if or when the Bucks make a move. This cannot go on for much longer as frustration is already at a peak.

Cavaliers are for Real

On the opposite end of the spectrum are the incredible Cleveland Cavaliers who have run out of the gate to start the season and kept on sprinting. Throw a hurdle at them and they will clear it by a mile. Nothing seems to be phasing them as they opened the new campaign with a 10-0 and it seems like there is no end in sight to their amazing stretch. This is the best start in franchise history, and we are talking about a team that is synonymous with LeBron James. At the moment, Stake gives them the odds of 19.00 to take the title, with 7 other teams in front. Capitalizing now would be an amazing wagering foresight and they could very well do it.

Donovan Mitchel
~Donovan Mitchel

Donovan Mitchel and Darius Garland are leading the backcourt while the twin towers of Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen are anchoring the post. Such a combination of size and speed, offense and defense, is not present in many other teams. Add a constant threat from beyond the arc from the likes of Max Strus, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, and Isaac Okoro, and you have a well-rounded team poised for greatness. Betting on the Cavs is one of the surest things in basketball right now so be sure to ride the wave until it lasts. It is a good time once again to be an NBA fan in Cleveland.

Phoenix, Thunder, Celtics on a Roll

This assortment of contenders is doing their thing to open the season as all three teams are great right now. The Phoenix Suns are atop the Western Conference with an 8-1 record, same as the second-best Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic are leading the way as the team is winning games, both close and lopsided, and finally playing well together. The chemistry of OKC is unmatched and it is just so good to watch the guys interact with each other and play so well together. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are leading the way and their supporting cast is unlike anything else in the league. They could be ready for that final push come playoff time.

In the East, right under the mighty Cavs is the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. With the odds to take another title and cement the dynasty being 3.60, they are still the bookies’ favorites. However, many teams are off to an amazing start and could ruin their best chance at a repeat in almost 4 decades. Jason Tatum is playing like an MVP, again, and several guys are coming into their own, especially Payton Pritchard. With Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis down with injuries, the Cs have not yet taken out their best starting five onto the court this season. It is a scary thought to have but there is no saying how good they will be when the gears start turning midway through the season.

Numerous Early MVP Candidates

After the first two weeks, the MVP battle looked nothing like we expected it to. Some names appeared there that no sane person would think of. For example, two Clippers players are incredible right now, but none of them are named James Harden or Kawhi Leonard. It is Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac who have been carrying the load and are the main contributors to the positive 5-4 record of a team who were supposed to be where the Bucks and Philly are right now. Zubac is averaging 16.7 points and 12.8 rebounds while Powell is playing out of his mind with 25.7 points per game.

The Sacramento Kings hoped for a better start than their current 5-4 record, but there is a lot to be optimistic about right now. They have three players averaging more than 20 points per game. De’Aron Fox is leading the way with 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. DeMar DeRozan is currently at 24.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 20.6 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game and has already had several triple-doubles.

Speaking of the Lithuanian superstar, he has had one of the best games in history, a perfect game as many called it. In their November 6 win over the Toronto Raptors, he did something nobody else has. Pay attention. He had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. He added 1 steal to it. But the great thing about it is that he shot 100% from the floor, 6/6, 100% from the free throw, 5/5, and did not have a single foul or turnover! Such a game is unheard of and it is a testament to how the new, non-American players (Jokic, Sabonis, Giannis, Luka, Shai) are changing the game.

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in the 7th spot with a 5-4 record after opening the season in big fashion. With big stories surrounding them, none bigger than Bronny James and the new coaching staff led by JJ Reddick, they are handling the business well enough. LeBron James says he plans to play all 82 games this season, something he has only done once in his 22-year-long career. That is promising as the team needs all he can give them, and he is delivering amazingly well for a soon-to-be 40-year-old.

However, it is Anthony Davis who is leading the way and making an early push for the MVP. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game on 57% shooting. These are MVP numbers and should he be able to play enough games, it could be his year. He is also delivering on the defensive end so it could be a battle between him and Victor Wembanyama for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta Hawks
The past week has been rocky to say the least for the Pistons. For the first time this year, a bit of gray has come to tickle the start of the XXL season for JB Bickerstaff's men. Indeed, the streak of 13 consecutive victories came to an abrupt end after a loss to the Boston Celtics 117-114. 48 hours later the Pistons will surrender to the Orlando Magic of F.Wagner 109-112 before reacting with great mastery against the Miami Heat 135-138 in back-to-back night from Saturday to Sunday last. The Atlanta Hawks 5th in the Eastern Conference, 13 wins - 8 losses assume the status of an uninhibited, liberated franchise, determined to steal a spot for the Play-offs to the extent that in this Eastern Conference this year, several favorites are not present Milwaukee, Boston, Philly, Indiana. There is room for this formation which remained in the last two bipolar matches. A setback against the biggest dunce in the Eastern Conference the Washington Wizards 132-113 for a success a few hours later at home in front of the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-123, and another against the 76ers last night 136-142 AD.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Finding an NBA finalist, winner of the title in the East, in the last 2 places in the standings after a month of recovery is almost unheard of, but let's understand that Rick Carlisle's team at the moment has nothing to do with the one that played Game 7 against the Thunder for the NBA title. Haliburton, Nembhard, injured Nesmith and Turner are not playing, but Indiana has won two consecutive games for the first time this season in front of the Washington Wizards 119-86 and Chicago Bulls 103-101. The Cleveland Cavaliers 6th in the East, 12 wins - 8 losses we are not going to repeat it constantly but have a big problem this year at the start. Some weird choices were made. Like those of separating from Okoro or Jerome. The bench release was impacted and at times when the Cavaliers needed input in this register after the defections of Garland, and temporarily of Mobley and Mitchell. The Cleveland Cavaliers after two consecutive losses to the Raptors 110-99 and the Hawks 130-123 had to react against the Boston Celtics, they unfortunately fell 115-117.

Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks
In a formation where we find the two Frenchmen Sarr and Coulibaly, supported by endearing boys such as McCollum and Middleton, on paper, obviously we are keeping a particular eye on the situation of this franchise. Except that Washington has ruined everything once again, 15th in the Eastern Conference, ridiculous after 14 defeats in a row but saved last week by a magnificent victory over the Atlanta Hawks 132-113, before losing another match against the Indiana Pacers 119-86. The Milwaukee Bucks in 11th place in the Eastern Conference is still a task. Two years ago, we were talking about this franchise as the future of the Eastern Conference after the reinforcement of Lillard in a franchise which was already running 100% with Middleton, Giannis and Lopez. But now, after losing many players, Milwaukee is lagging behind in the 2nd part of the Eastern Conference table. Fortunately the Bucks ended a series of 7 consecutive defeats in the NBA by beating the BK Nets 116-99.

Chicago Bulls
Sixth in the Eastern Conference 12 wins - 8 losses after Cleveland's loss to Boston, the Orlando Magic are back in force after a complicated start to the season. 5 victories in its last 6 games, for Orlando which simply came out victorious 121-113 at home in front of the Golden State Warriors, and then in front of the Los Angeles Clippers 129-101, before bludgeoning the NY Knicks 133-121 last Saturday, but no back-to-back miracle against Boston 138-129, winner this week in front of the 76ers 103-144 and Pistons 109-112 on the road. Very delicate moment to negotiate for the unrecognizable Chicago Bulls. In overdrive of course, but like the Atlanta Hawks we thought that Chicago would stay in the top 6 after a 5 wins - 0 losses start. But however the Chicago Bulls no longer respond favorably, recently beaten by very average teams, such as the New Orleans Pelicans, last in the Western Conference 143-130, the Charlotte Hornets 123-116 and finally the Indiana Pacers 103-101.

Charlotte Hornets
It's a big mess for the Brooklyn Nets for another year. 14th in the Eastern Conference 3 wins - 16 losses, the franchise's record is atrocious, reflecting its level of play. Once again in the last match against the Milwaukee Bucks, the statistical lines were crazy. The starting 5 as a whole barely exceeded 30 points, when Danny Wolf finished the game with 22 units and Jalen Wilson 13 points to close the game. 116-99 defeat last weekend, the 4th in a row after Raptors, Knicks, 76ers. The Charlotte Hornets decided to play clean and serious basketball for two games. However, it is important to emphasize that if Charlotte has found her balance it is also due to the fact that she has recently regained her entire squad. Everyone plays, Ball, Miller, Bridges, Knueppel etc. The Charlotte Hornets beat the Chicago Bulls on Saturday 123-116 and then the Toronto Raptors 118-111 deprived of RJ Barrett, ending a Canadian streak of 9 consecutive victories in the NBA.

LA Clippers
13 wins - 7 losses, a place in the top 4, and a comeback that almost was monumental against the Detroit Pistons at the end of the match last weekend. Quickly overwhelmed in this match 59-71, halftime, the Florida franchise was trailing by more than 20 points in the 4th quarter before coming back to just 3 points with 1 minute remaining 129-132. The miracle did not happen unfortunately for the Floridians who won the Mavericks 106-102 deprived of Davis, and Milwaukee Bucks 106-103 deprived of Giannis, and beaten by Detroit 135-138. The Los Angeles Clippers are in the middle of a crisis. But the last 2 defeats with very serious consequences in the ranking could change everything in the coming hours. Indeed, in order to reassure Los Angeles received the Memphis Grizzlies and the Dallas Mavericks in order to gain points, confidence, against two sick franchises deprived of flagship players respectively Morant and on the other side Davis and Irving. Surprising once again, the Clippers managed to defy all possible statistics by losing the 2, 107-122 against Memphis and 110-114 in front of Dallas.

Gordon's injury changes the way the Denver Nuggets play. The defense takes a hit, this formation plays differently. After successes against the Pelicans 118-125 and recently against the Memphis Grizzlies 115-125, two poorly ranked, Denver lost on the night from Friday to Saturday at home against the San Antonio Spurs 136-139. An embarrassing defeat for the Nuggets who were nevertheless victorious then against the Phoenix Suns with a score of 112-130 in Arizona night from Saturday to Sunday. For the Dallas Mavericks it is perhaps a little less worse than expected in the end to the extent that if the franchise manages to negotiate an honorable departure for Davis, with Draft rounds or a nice counterpart, rebuilding around the Cooper Flagg phenomenon is not so bad. The Dallas Mavericks 12th, 6 wins - 15 losses have for their part defeated the franchise that everyone has been beating up for a few days, namely the Los Angeles Clippers. In a meeting rich in intensity, the Mavericks won 110-114.

Houston Rockets
The Utah Jazz must keep a cool head heading into this game against the Houston Rockets because they are negotiating a very important part of the season. Indeed, at this time of the year, the teams are starting to place themselves in this fight for the top 8. 6 victories - 13 defeats for the Mormons, authors of a complicated weekend to say the least. Firstly victorious in front of the Sacramento Kings with a score of 128-119 but largely beaten a few hours ago in front of the Houston Rockets for match 1 between the two franchises 101-129. The Houston Rockets are launched into the race for the top 4 of the Western Conference. Based on the first elements that we can see, Houston cannot fall below the first 4 places. Houston, 3rd place in the West, has won 8 of its last 10 games, including the last 3, but the enigma for the Rockets, as for the Nuggets, the Wolves or the Lakers, is to know who will be able to bring down an OKC which is running at full speed. For now, Houston beat the Jazz 101-129 30 hours ago.

Team in good shape at the moment, the Los Angeles Lakers of LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are in the right car at the moment after a brilliant start to the season. As of December 1, 2025, the franchise with 17 NBA titles is in 2nd place in the Western Conference, 14 wins – 4 losses. Undefeated for 6 games in this regard, the Californians beat the Milwaukee Bucks 95-119 on November 16 in Wisconsin, the Los Angeles Clippers last Wednesday in the derby 135-118 to conclude with a success over the Mavericks 129-119. Los Angeles hosted the Pelicans without LeBron last night. The Phoenix Suns arrive at the Crypto.Com Arena ex-Staples Center with high ambitions. It is a success for the Suns to be in 7th place with a positive record of 12 wins - 9 losses. The balance is good, the collective is taking shape, D.Brooks has integrated, while J.Green is impatiently waiting to make his return over time, he who had been the author of a very successful first under his new jersey. However, to finish, the Suns lost 2 games against the two big favorites in the West, Denver 112-130 and earlier against OKC 123-119.

Memphis Grizzlies
A horror start to the season from the Sacramento Kings 13th, 5 wins - 15 losses whose leaders would have taken the radical decision to trade the entire group. But what an idea to recover DeRozan and LaVine whose association for 3 years with the Chicago Bulls turned into a fiasco. 13th in the Western Conference, only 25% wins at this stage of the season, Sacramento lost its last 2 games to the Phoenix Suns 100-112 and the Utah Jazz 128-119. The Memphis Grizzlies 10th, 8 wins - 12 losses, paradoxically or not, have found a lot of consistency since the injury of Ja Morant, their best player. Indeed, the results have never been so good as this series of 4 successes in the last 5 played in the NBA can attest. Winners in the money-time against the New Orleans Pelicans in the middle of the week 128-133, the Memphis Grizzlies then won the bet against the Los Angeles Clippers with a score of 107-112.

New Orleans Pelicans
The Los Angeles Lakers, second in the Western Conference 14 wins - 4 losses, it's serious. It's also an opportunity for LeBron James at 40 to get a kick out of a group that was doing well without him. Indeed, injured for 1 month, the impact of the King is a little less, to the extent that Reaves and Doncic took control of operations like the last victory against the Dallas Mavericks 127-117. Doncic's 35 points and 11 assists, and Austin Reaves' 38 points and 8 rebounds allowed LA to win. The New Orleans Pelicans 15th, 3 wins – 17 losses are in agony. Now the leaders would like to break up this group, rebuild, and sell its best elements such as Zion Williamson whose value on the market. remains very interesting, like that of Dejounte Murray injured since the start of the season. NOLA at the start of the week after a success in its den against the Bulls 143-130, lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 128-133 and to Jimmy Butler's Warriors 104-98 last night.

Minnesota was finalist in the Western Conference 2024-25, unhappy before the power of the OKC Thunder 4-1, but determined to return to the top of the pyramid. However, the start of the season for the Minnesota Timberwolves 7th, 11 wins – 8 losses is bad. Being satisfied with 7th place is impossible. The morale of the troops was at its worst before the reception in Boston last night. Beaten by Phoenix 114-113, Sacramento especially 117-112 and OKC 113-105, Minnesota then won its duel against the Boston Celtics 119-115. Victor Wembanyama absent for 10 days... No worries for the San Antonio Spurs still focused on the idea of continuing successes in the NBA. Without its superstar the team continues to win and impress. Shaken by the Phoenix Suns at the start of the week 111-102, San Antonio then found the right adjustments to beat the Portland Trail Blazers initially 102-115 and the Denver Nuggets in Colorado at the end of a magnificently accomplished match 136-139.

Having displayed an incredible level of play in the regular season in recent years, finishing very well in 1st place in the Eastern Conference last year after winning the first 15 games, Cleveland was then unable to maintain this level of play in the Play-offs. Cleveland version 2025-26 wants to learn from its mistakes, and arrive ready for the battle in April. However, the latest results were ahead of better ranked teams like the Raptors 110-99 on Tuesday and Hawks 130-123. The Boston Celtics 9th, 10 wins - 9 losses 24 hours before were moving to the Minnesota Timberwolves in doubt after several challenges for confidence. Conversely, Jaylen Brown's Boston remained on a magnificent success against the Detroit Pistons with a score of 117-114, the leader of the Eastern Conference. If the first half in the Midwest 59-69 was perfect, Boston quickly became disillusioned afterward, beaten 118-115.

The record recently increased to 12 wins – 6 losses. As we told you, then repeated here, it's not normal not to be in the top 2 places with such a squad without forgetting the favorable situation in the East with Tatum and Haliburton injuries for a franchise like the Knicks. That being said, the dynamic is good for the residents of Madison Square Garden. After logical successes in front of Brooklyn 100-113 and Charlotte 101-129 on Thursday, New York beat the Bucks for the return of Giannis 118-109. Watch out for the Toronto Raptors defeated in the last match in front of the Charlotte Hornets in back-to-back. A Toronto orphan of RJ Barrett ex-Knicks traveled to North Carolina with a lot of certainty 9 consecutive victories. However, in a disjointed match and a favorable scenario for the Charlotte Hornets, Toronto surrendered 118-111. The Raptors have not lost their 2nd place in the Eastern Conference 14 wins - 6 losses that said.

“You miss only one being and everything is depopulated”: it's a bit of delirium at the moment among Pennsylvanians saved by Maxey's monumental start to the season 33 points on average, but morally weighed down by a still injured Jo Embiid, limited to playing time below half-time 23.8 min. The 76ers 8th, 10 wins - 8 losses, nevertheless won their last away match in front of the Brooklyn Nets present in the 2nd part of the table. Indeed, yet another year no one expected anything from the Hawks, ultimately this place in the top 5 after 6 weeks of recovery offers interesting prospects for the group which will soon recover T.Young after a month of absence. The Portland Trail Blazers 9th, 8 wins - 11 losses after a great start to the season have been holding back in recent weeks. Some strong men who contributed to Portland's magnificent start are in the infirmary, like J.Holiday. The Oregon franchise, already impacted by Damian Lillard's withdrawal for the season, the situation in the rankings is increasingly worrying to the extent that the top 7 7th, Minnesota, 11 wins - 8 wins is already very far away now. Portland lost its last match against the Spurs 102-115. At this precise moment of the season, after 5-6 weeks of the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder are already the big favorite among the bookmakers for the NBA title with odds around 2.50. This shows all the power that the reigning NBA champion exudes, already firmly in 1st place in the Western Conference with only one defeat on the clock 19 wins - 1 loss, on the heels of the best record in Golden State 2016 history, 9 losses. OKC beat the Suns 123-119 in their last game for J. Williams' comeback.

Refresh

So what about some immediate games and the newest NBA sports betting odds? We have you covered. This weekend is full of great games, particularly on Sunday. The Suns are playing the Kings in a great Western Conference duel. Considering their current form and how well the team is playing together, the Suns’ odds of 1.46 make sense over the Kings’ 2.80. The over/under is 227.5 and should be a great over (1.77) to play as both teams have some heavy hitters on their rosters. Among Durant, Booker, and Beal on one side and Fox, DeRozan, and Sabonis on the other, it should be an easy win.

The struggling Bucks are playing the Celtics in what was supposed to be an Eastern Conference clash of contenders. However, it is not guaranteed due to the current form of the Milwaukee team. Still, Giannis and Lillard have a lot to prove and could actually come on top. Tatum is the lone star as his team is incomplete, hence the 1.80 odds for the Celtics and the 2.06 odds for the Bucks. This may be the game that turns it around for the Wisconsin team.

Who doesn’t like when the New York Knicks are good? It is simply great for the league and the sport! They are the favorites in their upcoming clash with the Indiana Pacers as the trades proved successful. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges on one side, and Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner are more than enough to get you the 1.77 over on the 226.5 threshold. As for the winner, the Knicks should take it. The bookies predict it and give them 1.81 over the Pacers’ 2.05.
