NBA 2025 latest News and Predictions
Stay ahead of the game with our latest NBA blog! Get the inside scoop on the latest news, scores, and expert predictions.

Roughly a month into the newest edition of the NBA season and already there are plenty of storylines that fans need to know about. While it may have seemed like we got everything figured out before the start, many of the early predictions fell through as some rather unexpected developments took place. Injuries are already piling up, expected contenders are struggling, and there is an overall feeling of uncertainty and unfamiliarity because of these unexpected factors. One thing is certain: it is still rather exciting to see the best of the best go at it night in and night out.
Because of all this, it is not easy for someone deeply invested in the best that basketball has to offer. No longer can you watch a game and know full well who is taking it before it actually finishes. Anything can happen and a bunch of stuff is happening. So how can an average fan of the NBA, or more importantly, an online sports betting enthusiast, prepare for a full slate of games? Is it possible to do enough research and should you trust the odds the bookies make? To these and other questions, we give answers in the following guide. Read on if you love basketball for the newest news, speculations, and predictions.
Struggling Playoff Teams
Two of the bigger stories deal with teams that were expected to make early pushes for the top of the standings and eventually make a deep playoff run. These are mainly the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Considering the names in their ranks and their past success, one of them more so than the other, they should be good for most of the season, right? Well, it seems like that will not be the case this season. It is already looking very bad for them and we have barely scratched the surface.Let us start with Philly. The City of Brotherly Love has been Trusting the Process for years now, but alas, it was to no avail. After numerous disappointments and experiments with stars past their prime, Joel Embiid somehow won an MVP and everyone’s spirits were high. Then, of course, his injuries continued as he was still unable to finish a season and take the team past the second round. Now, he has yet to play a single game this season. He was involved in two controversies already.
First, he said that if it were up to him, he would never play in back-to-back games until the end of his career. For this, the league launched an investigation into Philadelphia’s conducting of player absences. Then, the shoved a reporter in the locker room and got suspended for three games. And all of this after missing the first few games due to injury. It cannot get any worse, can it? Well, Tyrese Maxey is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and Paul George is a bit rusty after missing the first several games of the season. All in all, the 76ers are one of the worst teams right now with a 1-7 record and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Betting against them would not be a bad idea going forward.
Right above them with an abysmal 2-7 record are the Milwaukee Bucks, who, compared to Philly, are not struggling with any drama or major injuries to their stars. Sure, Khris Middleton is absent still and is yet to appear this season, but they are used to it by now. Their struggles come from a few other places. First off, it does seem like Doc Rivers is the greatest fraud in NBA coaching in the last 20 years. Since he took over, everything has gone downhill. Losing Jrue Holiday and getting Damian Lillard proved like a mistake as the team is struggling mightily on the defensive end and the duo of Giannis Antetokiunpo and Lillard cannot carry the entire offense on their own. If one of them misses a game, it is a definite loss, and they do tend to miss a game from time to time.
The lack of help from the bench as well as the remainder of the starting five is simply not enough to compete in the East right now. Other teams are younger, faster, and more talented, while the Bucks are the oldest team in the league with an average age of 30.4 years. All you need to know about their roster struggles is the fact that they are playing a 36-year-old Brook Lopez for 30 minutes a game. There is no end in sight to their struggles and Giannis constantly appears in trade rumors. It would be one of the biggest shakeups in the history of the league if or when the Bucks make a move. This cannot go on for much longer as frustration is already at a peak.
Cavaliers are for Real
On the opposite end of the spectrum are the incredible Cleveland Cavaliers who have run out of the gate to start the season and kept on sprinting. Throw a hurdle at them and they will clear it by a mile. Nothing seems to be phasing them as they opened the new campaign with a 10-0 and it seems like there is no end in sight to their amazing stretch. This is the best start in franchise history, and we are talking about a team that is synonymous with LeBron James. At the moment, Stake gives them the odds of 19.00 to take the title, with 7 other teams in front. Capitalizing now would be an amazing wagering foresight and they could very well do it.
Donovan Mitchel and Darius Garland are leading the backcourt while the twin towers of Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen are anchoring the post. Such a combination of size and speed, offense and defense, is not present in many other teams. Add a constant threat from beyond the arc from the likes of Max Strus, Caris LeVert, Sam Merrill, and Isaac Okoro, and you have a well-rounded team poised for greatness. Betting on the Cavs is one of the surest things in basketball right now so be sure to ride the wave until it lasts. It is a good time once again to be an NBA fan in Cleveland.
Phoenix, Thunder, Celtics on a Roll
This assortment of contenders is doing their thing to open the season as all three teams are great right now. The Phoenix Suns are atop the Western Conference with an 8-1 record, same as the second-best Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic are leading the way as the team is winning games, both close and lopsided, and finally playing well together. The chemistry of OKC is unmatched and it is just so good to watch the guys interact with each other and play so well together. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are leading the way and their supporting cast is unlike anything else in the league. They could be ready for that final push come playoff time.In the East, right under the mighty Cavs is the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. With the odds to take another title and cement the dynasty being 3.60, they are still the bookies’ favorites. However, many teams are off to an amazing start and could ruin their best chance at a repeat in almost 4 decades. Jason Tatum is playing like an MVP, again, and several guys are coming into their own, especially Payton Pritchard. With Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis down with injuries, the Cs have not yet taken out their best starting five onto the court this season. It is a scary thought to have but there is no saying how good they will be when the gears start turning midway through the season.
Numerous Early MVP Candidates
After the first two weeks, the MVP battle looked nothing like we expected it to. Some names appeared there that no sane person would think of. For example, two Clippers players are incredible right now, but none of them are named James Harden or Kawhi Leonard. It is Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac who have been carrying the load and are the main contributors to the positive 5-4 record of a team who were supposed to be where the Bucks and Philly are right now. Zubac is averaging 16.7 points and 12.8 rebounds while Powell is playing out of his mind with 25.7 points per game. The Sacramento Kings hoped for a better start than their current 5-4 record, but there is a lot to be optimistic about right now. They have three players averaging more than 20 points per game. De’Aron Fox is leading the way with 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. DeMar DeRozan is currently at 24.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 20.6 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game and has already had several triple-doubles.
that's a wrap from the desert, catch y'all tm for another one 🫡

Defensive Player of the Game presented by @phoonglawcorp pic.twitter.com/JfANZzwY8h
Speaking of the Lithuanian superstar, he has had one of the best games in history, a perfect game as many called it. In their November 6 win over the Toronto Raptors, he did something nobody else has. Pay attention. He had a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. He added 1 steal to it. But the great thing about it is that he shot 100% from the floor, 6/6, 100% from the free throw, 5/5, and did not have a single foul or turnover! Such a game is unheard of and it is a testament to how the new, non-American players (Jokic, Sabonis, Giannis, Luka, Shai) are changing the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in the 7th spot with a 5-4 record after opening the season in big fashion. With big stories surrounding them, none bigger than Bronny James and the new coaching staff led by JJ Reddick, they are handling the business well enough. LeBron James says he plans to play all 82 games this season, something he has only done once in his 22-year-long career. That is promising as the team needs all he can give them, and he is delivering amazingly well for a soon-to-be 40-year-old.
However, it is Anthony Davis who is leading the way and making an early push for the MVP. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game on 57% shooting. These are MVP numbers and should he be able to play enough games, it could be his year. He is also delivering on the defensive end so it could be a battle between him and Victor Wembanyama for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Charlotte Hornets
2026-04-15
Miami Heat
The Charlotte Hornets finished the regular season in 9th place in the Eastern Conference 44 wins – 38 losses. Despite a huge rise in the rankings after a failed start to the year, the North Carolina franchise was unable to reach a top 6, or even a top 8. This was due to 2 defeats in its last 3 games, recorded against the ogres Boston and Detroit before this success to end the regular season, against the New York Knicks B 96-110. A situation which forces Charlotte to go through the Play-ins with confidence. The Hornets have indeed won 24 of their last 35 games in the big league. The Miami Heat, 10th in the Eastern Conference, finished with a record of 43 wins and 36 losses. Coach Spoelstra's players lacked consistency in their results, after a brief stint in the top 6 at the beginning of March. Miami subsequently suffered 8 defeats in 10 games, which dropped them to 10th place. The Heat could not do better than this last qualifying position for the play-in despite their last two victories on their last two days of the regular season, contested against the dunce Washington 117-140 and the Hawks B to conclude 143-117.

Portland Trail Blazers
7th in the Western Conference for weeks, even months, Phoenix has not moved in the rankings, confirming its status as a franchise that is too strong for the 2nd part of the table, but not strong enough to compete with the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets, Lakers, Rockets and Wolves in the top 6. This 7th place 45 wins - 37 losses remains a nice surprise, it rewards a successful season thanks in particular to the express integration of Dillon Brooks. Having finished the regular season with 5 wins and 5 losses in its last 10 games, the Phoenix replacements still beat a Thunder B to finish at Oklahoma with a score of 103-135. The Portland Trail Blazers, eighth in the Western Conference 42 wins - 40 losses, fought until the end of this regular season to get out of places 9 and 10 which require them to go through 2 rounds of play-in to reach the playoffs. The story was off to a bad start when the season started without Damian Lillard out for the season and the suspension of head coach C.Billups. But Portland has found new leaders like coach Thiago Splitter, underrated leader Jrue Holiday and winger D.Avdija. The latter was able to emerge as a hero in order to carry the Blazers in the last 2 games against the Clippers 116-97 in the match to recover 8th place, and in front of the Kings 122-110 in order to keep it.

Orlando Magic
The Philadelphia 76ers season, as it has for years, was heavily impacted by Joel Embiid's injuries. When he is absent or logically diminished his team pays the high price. Tyrese Maxey was also very inconsistent when Embiid was away, back, no longer knowing what his primary responsibility was. Alternating good series and sluggish periods punctuated the year of the 76ers, who finally beat the Bucks 126-106 for the last of the season, taking advantage of the unexpected misstep of the Orlando Magic against the C team of the Boston Celtics. The Orlando Magic will have disappointed their entire small community until the end of the 82 games. An obvious disappointment given the dream squad that the Magic have with guys who seemed ready for the Play-offs but like the 76ers injuries delayed the process, like Franz Wagner who missed almost 50% of games in the regular season, and Suggs 30%, and Banchero 13%. The Floridians indeed made the headlines during the 82nd day after a setback in front of the C formation of the Celtics 113-108 depriving them of 7th place, and of receiving for this part.

Golden State Warriors
Very complicated season to negotiate for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2025-2026. Hopes were more or less colossal for them after the recruitment of Beal and Lopez, plus Leonard, Harden, and also Zubac in the group. A 5-star team that has never found its rhythm collectively. Tired of this situation, the leaders will make strong choices, namely the departures of James Harden and Ivica Zubac, in order to compensate with fresher future prospects. On the NBA floors, the Clippers, after losing the benefit of 8th place against the Blazers 116-97 on the penultimate day, took over the Warriors 115-110 to finish. Let's not immediately leave the "disillusionment section" to discuss the case of Golden State 10th, 37 victories - 45 defeats, the only team which qualified for Play-in via a negative record, that is to say the performance. To put it simply, we were expecting quality recruitment from the Warriors with obviously Giannis Antetokounmpo at the top of the list. It didn't come, Butler was injured for the season, and Curry missed a month and a half in the final sprint. In such conditions we can better understand this rotten 10th place in the rankings. The Warriors in a match without stakes lost to the Clippers 115-110.

Toronto Raptors
Eliminated last year at the semi-final stage of the Eastern Conference in front of the Indiana Pacers, the Cleveland of coach Atkinson for its second year in the Play-offs under the leadership of the former assistant of Vincent Collet in EDF is under pressure. Via 4th place, the Cavaliers have the minimum objective of playing in the Eastern Conference final. To do this, failing to display XXL consistency throughout the season, Cleveland has won 5 of its last 6 duels in the NBA, precisely the last against the Washington Wizards 130-117. The Toronto Raptors 5th in the Eastern Conference at the end of the regular season are playing a tough first round out of nowhere. If the gap between 4th place and 5th place seems very small, the gap between Toronto and Cleveland is immense on paper but also in terms of experience. The Raptors went from 30 wins - 52 losses in 2025, to this magnificent record of 46 wins - 36 losses in 2026. In order to secure this 5th place in the East, Toronto got the better of the Brooklyn Nets 136-101 last Sunday night.

Denver Nuggets

Minnesota Timberwolves
Starting the season as the team most equipped on paper to compete with the OKC Thunder NBA champions, this truth is no longer relevant 6 months later. Wembanyama's Spurs seem in better condition, the 4th Lakers finished strong but behind the Nuggets in the standings, who took a colossal risk on the last day. We explain: traveling to the Spurs, Denver was hoping to gain 3rd place in the absence of its 5 major. A considerable risk insofar as the 3rd will play San Antonio in the event of a semi-final and not the OKC Thunder. Precisely while waiting to find the Texans, why not, Denver won against them 118-128. The density of the Western conference unlike the Eastern conference gives us this clash between two mountains from the 1st round. Because the Wolves are a very big piece at the moment. Finalist in the Western Conference last year via 6th place in the regular season, Gobert's gang will have lost a lot of energy with injuries during the season like the 21 games missed out of 82 by superstar Anthony Edwards. But to finish, in two games without anything at stake, Minnesota got the better of Houston 132-136 and New Orleans 132-126 in order to reassure itself without its first team.

Atlanta Hawks
The New York Knicks finished this season in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, 53 wins – 29 losses. For such an ambitious team on paper, collectively in place, which fired its previous coach after a setback in the conference final to tell you the high objectives, a 3rd place with 29 defeats is not great. Although Mike Brown brought home the NBA Cup, he mainly came to win the title in the East. The NY Knicks finally lost their 82nd game of the season to the Hornets 96-110 with an second team, but remained on XXL successes like the one against the Boston Celtics 112-106. The Atlanta Hawks 46 wins - 36 losses therefore concluded this 2025-26 season in 6th place, directly qualifying for the rest of the adventure. In the tough after the first 3 months, the arrival of McCollum causing the immediate departure of Trae Young changed things positively, giving him a more sustained balance. The Atlanta Hawks did not finish the regular season well on the other hand with 3 defeats in the last 4 duels, but won the one which ensured the place in the Play-offs at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Atlanta in its last two Play-off campaigns, had played in the conference final and lost in the 1st round, in 2021 and 2023 respectively.

Houston Rockets
Finalists in the Western Conference during the 2022-23 season ahead of the Denver Nuggets sweep, the Los Angeles Lakers stopped in the 1st round during the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, respectively eliminated ahead of the Nuggets 4-1 and the Wolves 4-1, suffice to say that this year LeBron James' teammates will not want to stop there, especially since they will have home court advantage after the gain of this 4th place, assured thanks to 3 consecutive successes in the NBA in front of the Warriors 103-119, Suns 101-73 and Jazz 131-107. The Houston Rockets fifth in the Western conference at the end of the regular season had been eliminated in the 1st round with 2nd place around their necks however. Curry's Warriors won 4-3, causing the departure of J.Green, author of a rotten campaign, then the arrival of Kevin Durant. If this 5th place obtained in 2025-26 is in fact worse than the previous season, a guy like KD arrived in Texas precisely to take the group to a new level at this time of the year. The Rockets finished the regular season strong with 9 wins in 10 games.

So what about some immediate games and the newest NBA sports betting odds? We have you covered. This weekend is full of great games, particularly on Sunday. The Suns are playing the Kings in a great Western Conference duel. Considering their current form and how well the team is playing together, the Suns’ odds of 1.46 make sense over the Kings’ 2.80. The over/under is 227.5 and should be a great over (1.77) to play as both teams have some heavy hitters on their rosters. Among Durant, Booker, and Beal on one side and Fox, DeRozan, and Sabonis on the other, it should be an easy win.
The struggling Bucks are playing the Celtics in what was supposed to be an Eastern Conference clash of contenders. However, it is not guaranteed due to the current form of the Milwaukee team. Still, Giannis and Lillard have a lot to prove and could actually come on top. Tatum is the lone star as his team is incomplete, hence the 1.80 odds for the Celtics and the 2.06 odds for the Bucks. This may be the game that turns it around for the Wisconsin team.
Who doesn’t like when the New York Knicks are good? It is simply great for the league and the sport! They are the favorites in their upcoming clash with the Indiana Pacers as the trades proved successful. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges on one side, and Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner are more than enough to get you the 1.77 over on the 226.5 threshold. As for the winner, the Knicks should take it. The bookies predict it and give them 1.81 over the Pacers’ 2.05.
