Returning to the African Cup six years after reaching the round of 16 of the competition, Uganda brings up the rear in a tough Group C. The Cranes did not compete with Tunisia, defeated 3-1 at the opening of this edition and missed the opportunity to take three points against Tanzania 1-1, the most affordable opponent in the group. Both players contributed to the success against Tunisia. Better yet, Lookman, already successful against Tanzania, has 2 goals and 2 assists in this CAN. The experience of captain Ndidi (Besiktas, 74 sel), other midfielders Iwobi (Fulham, 94 caps, 10 goals) and Onyeka (Brentford, 39 sel) and central defenders Bassey (Fulham, 40 sel) and Ajayi (Hull, 50 sel) also brings the Super Eagles to the continent. Not called up or injured, there are several who have not been included in the team for the competition like Aina (Nottingham Forest, 48 sel), Uche (Crystal Palace, 3 caps), Iheanacho (Celtic, 15 goals in 57 sel), Moffi (Nice, 19 sel), Sadiq (Real Sociedad, 12 sel) or even Boniface (Werder Bremen, 12 sel).
