teemu pukki

Leeds United has been targeting Teemu Pukki for the past three years, and even though Pukkiis already past his prime, he would still be a good signing for Leeds United. The team hasplayed 15 Premier League games this season but is seriously struggling to find the net. Thewinter transfer window is getting closer, and Leeds is already thinking of signing a new striker. Ifthey are not competent in signing a younger, promising forward, Pukki would be an excellentstop-gap signing for them.

So far this season, Pukki has scored nine and assisted eight goals in all competitions. He isrunning out of contract in July and would be a possible affordable stop-gap signing for LeedsUnited. Many forums have discussions about the possibility of signing Pukki and whether itwould be worth it for Leeds to sign him. Even though Leeds is eyeing a move for Pukki, theymight not be able to sign him. According to Vedonlyontisivustoni.com, a Finnish comparison siterun by gambling experts, Pukki is likelier to stay with Norwich City until the end of the seasonthan to join the Premier League club.

Is a new striker the thing that Leeds United is missing? And what are the other problem areas inLeeds United’s line-up? Should Leeds United prioritize signing a forward instead of anotherposition? Let’s find out.

What are the problem areas?

Premier League season 2022/23 has been going for 15 rounds. During that time, Leeds Unitedgained 15 points, scored 22 goals, and conceded 26. The team is currently sitting in the 15thposition in the Premier League, but they are only two points away from the relegation zone. They need some improvements to up their play.

The major problem areas in Leeds United’s line-up are the forward and the left-back positions. At the moment, Rodrigo and Summerville are carrying the team goal-scoring-wise. In 10 games,Summerville has scored four goals, and in 13 games, Rodrigo has scored nine. That is over halfof the goals the whole of Leeds United has scored this season. For example, Patrick Bamfordhasn’t scored a goal in a competitive game in over 12 months. Leeds United needs to find anew goal-scoring forward. If Leeds United can not sign a good long-term goal-scoring striker,Pukki could be an excellent stop-gap signing.

The left-back position is almost as crucial to replace as the forward for Leeds United. JuniorFirpo caught an injury and hasn’t lived up to the expectations in his previous games. Because ofthat injury, Leeds United has been playing Pascal Strujik as their left-back, even though heusually plays as a center-back.

Other transfer rumours

Leeds United seriously needs to improve their team during the winter transfer window. The keyto success would be to find the ideal attacking player to take pressure off from the likes ofRodrigo and Summerville. According to Transfermarkt.co., the most likely options would be tosign Boulaye Dia from Salernitarna, Christian Pulisic from Chelsea, or the previous summertransfer target Charles De Ketelaere from Ac Milan.

Of the three players mentioned above, the most likely option is Boulaye Dia. His market value isestimated to be around 12m, and he is most likely looking to get the next step in his career. Diahas scored six goals and assisted two in the Serie A this season. He is also representingSenegal in the World Cup.

In the past summer transfer window, Leeds United was already chasing the signing of DeKetelaere, but he decided to join Ac Milan instead. Leeds is still looking after him, but DeKetelaere is most likely staying in Ac Milan until the end of the season. And the last transfertarget, Pulisic, might be a bit too expensive for Leeds United’s budget.

When looking at the second problem area, left back, there is only one rumour. RaphaëlGuerreiro from Borussia Dortmund. Guerreiro is running out of contract at the end of this seasonand might be looking for new opportunities. He has been representing Dortmund for the past sixyears and is one of Leeds United’s top targets next transfer window. His market value is around20m, but he is most likely available for a more affordable price.
